New BM Grip Inbound
on: January 30, 2012, 05:15:42 AM
I sold a knife tonight to purchase another and then decided I didn't want to pay what guy was asking for condition knife was in. So I had a few dollars and thought I'd get my yellow mini grip I've wanted for over a year now. I use to have many mini grips including the rare ones but had to sell them last April due to job lost. I never did have the yellow though and always wanted it. So its on its way from Knifeworks. I can't wait. :woohoo:

Congrats on getting that grip. I just got a few things from Roger myself, so hopefully I will have pics up tomorrow.

Yellow Mini Grip is great!!

I just got one and it went straight in my pocket...

I bought two MG... One black and one yellow. The black one showed up pretty fast, but it took allmost 2 months for yellow one to arrive, so I was  :-\ :-[ :-[

But now it's here!! Awesom little knife, I like it more over Delica!

Hey Paul, You Have The Wrong Mini Grip In Mind.
You're Thinking The Wenger Mini Swiss Grip.

The Benchmade Mini Grip - Or Mini Griptilian Is A Folding Knife Made By Benchmade.
I Much Prefer The Full Size Griptilian.

Since I've owned that also I can answer anyways. I didn't like the pliers at all on the mini grip. I found them totally useless. I much prefer Leatherman pliers over anything Wenger has with pliers. Hope that helps. BTW you need a BM mini grip also in your life. They are so sweet. The full size one feel like junk in the hand but the minis feel amazing IMHO. I know they are the same knife basically but even 2 of my friends can feel the major difference when in hand.

I Guess It Really Depends On Opinion And Preference When It Comes To The Benchmade Grips.
I Prefer The Large Over The Small. And Think It Feels Great In The Hand. But I've Also Heard People Say They Feel Cheap.
Yet Others Say They're Great Lol. So It's Definitely Something Of Preference I Suppose.

I think the "cheap" feeling of the griptillian has a lot to do with the plastic handles. That's the reason I didn't really care for the griptillian.

The minigrip has steel running the full length on the inside of the plastic/FRN/nylon(?) handles. Mine feels plenty strong enough, it's a real good slicer , and I really like the buttery smooth one hand opening and axis lock.

Now, I know that some people thought the full size griptillians felt a little less substantial because the steel only went about halfway down and you could kind of "flex" the scales inward with some pressure squeezing them together. Personally, I have never heard of a failure or durability issue with these knives.

You know, I've always kinda liked the Griptilians, but I could never get around carrying one regularly.  I've bought a couple of minis used over the years but I always end up selling them after a month or two.

Same with a lot of Kershaw models but that one's more due to the rust-magnet bead blasted Sandvik steels.

Kershaws sure do rust easy. Well this may not be in the pocket long. I found something else today somewhere that I've wanted for a while. Just gotta wait on the cash.

Oh, whats your new find? I've taken to carrying my BM rift lately, it seems to have replaced my 940 for the time being.

As far as the griptillian goes, I never actually handled a mini-grip so I don't have a comparison. I just didn't get the feel of the full size griptillian so I sort of ignored the mini-grip. As I said its the handle material that puts me off it, they are great knives and I have no functional complaints about it.

I actually wound up giving my griptillian to a friend when his Naval reserve unit deployed a few months ago. He is left handed so most of the liner/frame lock knives were a no go. Actually I think I had a thread on here about that.
