Victorinox new USB Drive lineup with SSD technology
on: February 22, 2012, 09:52:57 PM
I was just looking over the new lineup of USB Drive SAK's. Several new colors in alox and clear bodies for the 58mm size and SSD technology with up to 1 Terabyte drives in the 74mm frame size. The 74mm SSD Solid State Drive models will be packaged with 2 bodies to the 1 USB Drive. One red alox body with blades and one black alox body minus the blades for flight security reasons. Here is the link to the 74mm SSD model feature sheet. Here is the main story link about the newer 58mm USB lineup.

I think offering them with 2 different knife bodies is a brilliant idea! :tu: I also like that they use an eSATA - USB dual connector.

But aren't these the ones that will cost about a million dollars

Only about $3,000, and that's retail and that's why we have an in house dealer.  I'm sure Tim would be happy to order you one for about $1,900.

Yeah, but that's still like, um, $1850 out of my price range.  :P

Still insane though, I don't think I can fill up half of it with all my files combined. Even the LCD is cool, zero power required.

And what's the LCD for, anyway? I don't remember see it mentioned. To display the used and free space?

what is SSD technology in flashdrives?

I thought they all were SSD (no moving parts)

usb 2.0 limits the speed?

I may be wrong......as I've been wrong many many times before! =p

That'd be my guess. Can't really see a need for it though, could've shaved off a few dollars by skipping that as well as having one less thing that might stop working down the line. Still kind of neat though.

I want one of these.. but I don't need one of the bigger ones. Wonder what the 64GB will cost?
