Legend EDC?
on: March 01, 2012, 05:58:37 PM
Just wondering, does anyone here carry their Gerber Legend for an EDC. I've often thought of trying it.

Regards, Bill.

I'm  big fan and user of the Urban Legend (the MP700) but never had my hands on a MP800

I find the Legend just a bit too big for EDC myself, although I do like it a lot.  Mine hasn't seen too much use over the years though.

I sometimes carry mine on weekends when I might use the OH knife more than usual.  I find it as a good all around MT.  The carbide saw is not as good as I had imagined it to be however.
It is in rotation with a Spirit, SOG Power Pliers and Gerber Diesel.

I used to EDC a 700 as well, back when the top LM option was the old Wave... The PM700 surely has many nice features (carbide cutters, all outside locking tools, OHO blade, aluminium handles, Fiskars scissors, to mention a few...) but I believe that now there are better options out there...

I agree it's not necessarily the best tool out there, but it certainly answered all my frustrations with the LM Juice

I'm going to give mine a try this week and give my Wave a break. To be honest there are so many little things that bug me about this tool that I have to make myself carry it. I do like the knife, but I have smallish hands with long fingers and the handles take me some time getting comfortable with.

If appearance alone meant something, the Legend would probably be the Mercedes or Jaguar of multitools. Unfortunately, I prefer station wagons...

Regards!

I don't recall this one getting a lot of carry time either.  Maybe like the Diesel I should put it into rotation for a while.

I EDC my 800.  It is a bit heavy on the belt, but it doesn't bother me.  If you don't have big hands I wouldn't recommend for EDC though as it might be uncomfortable

I've been carrying the 800 for the past few weeks and have to say it's been a surprise. I've had to use the pliers and screwdrivers. I still think the file is awful (mine seems very cheap), and the Phillips is a little short, but the pliers have been very good. I thought the tool would be cumbersome, but overall it's been quite handy.

So I gotta give props to Gerber.
