Joining the asylum.
on: March 15, 2012, 02:25:43 AM
Hi folks,

My name is Dan. I've been a MT nut for most of my 41 years. I've had some type of MT on my person for most of my life. It started with a SAK my Dad gave me when I was a wee tike to the Skeletool I carry now. Along the way I've searched for the ultimate tool. While many have come close they all have pros and cons.Something tells me I'll never find it but I'm enjoying the journey. I have had quite a few over the years from Leatherman, Gerber, SOG, Schrade, and any off brand I could find.

I've done property management for 25 years. Climbed in some of the smallest attics and even smaller crawl spaces doing work orders and any type of home repair you could imagine. Always accompanied by a multitool. They've made my job and life easier by allowing me to always have a tool of some sort or another with me to handle the job the job or task in front of me. When I dont have one with me I feel like I'm going to be screwed if something pops up. Finding a group of like minded folks is pretty damned cool. I think I'm going to like it here.

Thanks for the chance to join the asylum. Sad they can't lock the doors and keep us from the general public. We'd just use our MTs to escape and find something to fix or tinker with.

Dan

Welcome dude!  This place is awesome, I'm sure you realize that or you wouldn't have joined.  We can be pretty crazy around here, someone posted a horrid photo of Sean Connery the other day, but if you can get past the red leotard thing he's wearing then you'll be fine.  It's either in the Man thread or the Woman thread.

Sorry, didn't mean to rant on your welcome thread, but have a good time here!

Hey Dan, as the owner of a small apartment building I know what you are talking about when it comes to dirty jobs in tight spaces.  I like SAKs and multitools because once you get wedged in somewhere and realize you don't have the right screwdriver it's a real pain in the arse to extricate yourself, climb down the ladder, rummage through the tool box for the right one, then climb back up and try to find the halfways decent position you had before.  That still happens, but a lot less when you carry a certain number of options with you.

Looking forward to hearing some about your experiences!
