Tool Covers: On or Off?

Do you SOG users carry your tool with the tool covers on or off? They're nice for plier use, but a pain when you need the tools quickly.

Thanks

I leave the covers on.  I don't really know why. I know they come off but I leave them there mostly I think because they are supposed to be there.  Does that make sense?

Do you carry the SOG much? I have the older model with the bicycle hub gears sticking out. Still, it's a nice tool.

I have old and new models, and yes, they do see a fair bit of rotation.  Also, I had given my father a PowerAssist and he loves it.  He never leaves it behind.

While SOG tools may have their drawbacks, there's no arguing with the pliers on them.  If SOG was to introduce replaceable cutters like Gerber and Leatherman then I'd probably never carry anything else.

Covers off, always, for me.  Never really had a problem with it hurting my hands.  If I'm squeezing that hard I'm starting to wonder if I need a bigger tool before it breaks.

Covers on - tool feels much better in use.

I got this tool for work as an electrician's assistant. This involves cutting a lot of 12-3 Romex. In theory, covers on for me. The time it takes to switch tools is worth it to keep my hands from getting chewed up.

The truth is I haven't used it enough to say for certain.

I can say that the time it takes to switch between tools won't matter too much since most of what I do is done in stages. Do a bunch of long wire runs. Hammer in boxes (not with this tool, obviously), feed wires into boxes, strip wires. So it's a lot of using one tool, then switching and using another tool for a good amount of time.

I took mine off until the first time I really used the pliers. After my hands quit hurting, I put them back on and that's where they stay. I hate the tool covers thought. This tool is so nice and it has a lot of potential. I just wish they would the blades on the outside.

Well mine won't stay on if I want them to. If I'm squeezing the pliers they slide down and when I open them for a tool they pop off. They don't seem to fit very well. I don't really mind needing to open them for a tool so I suppose if they were more secure I would leave them on. The covers seem like such an afterthought it bugs me.

Stay multi my friends

I leave the PowerLock covers off because they get in the way and make the tool fatter.
