LIGHTSAVER LS 805
on: March 13, 2012, 06:43:55 PM
I was given a Lightsaver LS805 "Commando" flashlight as a gift.

Specs:
3 Watt Cree LED (three modes)
120 Lumens (Beam not adjustable)
18650 Li-Ion rechargeable battery (3.7V 2200mAh)
Charger and car charger with USB socket.
100% = 2.5 hrs burning time / 50% = 5 hrs burning time
Charging time = 6 hours.

I am a police officer and charged the flashlight the first time in 14 month of moderate use.
The weekend I used it in a 8 hour roadblock shift and it recharged to full in less that 1 hour.
I have used it quite a lot directing traffic and while searching suspected vehicles.

Visually this flashlight's beam equils that of the LED Lenzer P7, but the beam is much wider as it can not be adjusted.
The glass is protected with a slight longer cone with teeth, meant to be used to "stab" an attacker.
This flashlight is my EDC when on duty and is a winner over and over. After 14 month of carry the aluminum anodizing show no signs of wear.

Now apparently this flashlight is of South African make (The agents is situated in Cape Town), but I believe the parts are made elsewhere. What amazes me is that I can nowhere find any trace of this flashlight on Internet. The company listed other models, but this one was brand new when given to me. I don't know if this is maybe a future model to be marketed. The local Special High Risk forces Commander is using a smaller model (90 lumens I think) as his primary Tactical Flashlight now for years. Currently this flashlight kicked the Led Lenzer P 7 off it's throne as my EDC as this flashlight is the best, hard working, worn proof flashlight I have ever seen. Excellent tool. Excellent. I repeat, as a police officer I don't need a stronger light as this tool can throw a visible beam at about 200 meters.
Regards
Johan

Can't say I've heard of them either.  Sounds like a good work light for you though. :tu:

Almost two years later. The light is still going strong and I am still of the opinion that this light is a hit.

You have to consider the weight of Lumens compared to battery life. This model is well ballanced. The battery life is long enough and the light beam is strong and make police work in the night very easy. This is value for money if you have to buy this flashlight.

The finish don't show any signs of wear yet and I would recommend the light with a clear mind.

Always good to hear some real world feedback. :salute:  I'm especially impressed that the finish is holding up after two years of police work.  :o
