Looking for recommendations on a Folder
on: March 13, 2012, 11:48:13 PM
I'm looking for a good, single blade folder.  I have a Leatherman Crater C55Bx currently, but due to them being discontinued, I want to retire it to collection status.
I would like around a 3" + blade.  I actually prefer combo edge for my uses, but straight edge may be considered.
Not looking to spend over $100.

Thanks,
Russ

There are tons of good knifes that fit your needs at all prices. If you could narrow it down a bit by telling us the max amount you want to spend it would help.

Here's a few more details of what I'm looking for:
Blade: at the least 154CM or equivalent, large (meaning surface area)
Price: Definitely uner $100, would prefer around $50, but will go up to $100 for the right knife.
I would prefer American Made as well.

Thanks!

Maybe one of these days I'll remember everything I'm looking for
Assisted opening would be a plus, but is not necessary.

Benchmade Griptilian or Mini Griptilian.  There are a couple of versions that fit your needs (like the half-serrated D2 special edition).

Spyderco Manix 2 Half-Serrated Black

US made, 154cm, 3"+ blades, half serrated.  Higher-end of your price range, but to go lower would mean the steel would change.  If you don't mind something like 14C28N there are some Kershaws that might fit the bill as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, after talking with some friends, I've settled on a ColdSteel Recon1.
Should be here Thursday!
