My wife and son are both crazy about it right now though.That said, it looks to me like she's also shooting from the wrong side of the bow; the arrow should be on the side of the viewer in the pic. On the other hand, there's no easily identifiable rest for the shaft either, so that could be one reason for the funky grip.

European style shooting with a plain bow seems to have always been done over the knuckles, though I believe that some other cultures shoot over the thumb.Not perfect perhaps, but better than the girl above.
