Rebar with UBoat toolkit - these few tools have kept the UBoat afloat for the post decade or so. Which is a problem for a submarine.

I may have to buy a Cerakote Rebar just to get those wear marks on the finish.  It looks awesome, and shows that your Rebar has had plenty of adventures.

Thanks - we have had many workplace adventures together. Something I like about the finish, aside from the two awesome shades of green, is that the exposed steel finish doesn't seem to have that brushed effect and I'm really glad for that small detail.

Even the vulnerability of the Rebar to a little bit of rust is appealing - something I never thought I'd enjoy, but I liked that it responds to a bit of tlc. Here's Rebar with some rust on the large sd

Builds character they say😉

Yet, I do agree it is a form of oxidation, but is it really rust, as result of iron within the Stainless Steel oxidizing ?

I worked in the swimming pool industry maintaining pool equipment as maintence tech for the area YMCAs.   My REBARs were exposed to many types of chemicals, the worst being Chlorine and Sulphuric Acid.

My SS REBAR walked away from awl exposures without a  mark.  (Of course, thoroughly cleaned)
My BO Model not as well. The OXIDE coating always required addition cleaning, including a night in a bag with baking soda to insure any acid was absorbed and neutralized.

I have acquired a few tools via the secondary market with red marks on implements, as flat blades and the awl. Not the handles or plier heads.  Toothpaste easily removed any marks, and yet no signs on the tool, where the red was present that it damaged the surface as you would expect if rust was the cause.

I will also note, that on my CARBON BLADES used on older and even current slip joints, any oxidation that appears does so appearing BLACK and often leaves what I have heard referred as spider veins.  Never red, only black.

I have not tested my latest REBAR and its colored finish. Mine is called Seinna. But the Creakote finish is different texture than my COYOTE REBAR, which I feel is more durable. IMHO!😉

I am now wondering if the red is a result of transference from the steel liners of the tool???
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Maybe that rust could leave with fine steel wool.

One of my favorite tools on the Rebar.  I think it might have been used once for its intended purpose.  It's opened up vents in cups, and makes a great screw/nail starter.

The Rebar was the 3rd Leatherman I owned.  Everything on it works the way it should!

Its not easy to argue against it.  In Powernoodleworld, the ST300 is a close contender - basically a nuclear Rebar for $99 which in today's world is quite a value.  But the Rebar gives you 89% of the ST300's utility in a smaller package more suited for EDC, the tool bag, etc.  I keep a dedicated Rebar and Swiss Champ in the backpack I take to church and elsewhere.  And recently, one in the pocket.

The SUPERTool 300 is just a hair shy, weight.
The BOND is close but no SAW or SERRATED Blade.

By a WHISKER the REBAR is the BEST for me!

I'm a big Rebar fan!  I always liked Obi1shinobee's modded Rebar.  He's moved onto electric bikes the last I talked to him.

The REBAR could possibly be the the ONLY and LAST Leatherman Tool you may need to buy.

But then again, why

Those are gorgeous lads loopcutter. I see a BO Rebar in my future at some point. Just as a back up. Just in case. Because why not? One is none and two is one and all that. And I've been a very good boy.
