Thank you!  :hatsoff:

I consider the COYOTE and the BO equals.

The Coyote when I acquired was a CABELA’s (an U.S. big box sporting good chain and first retailer to place an order with TIM L) exclusive.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Interesting! So has Tim maintained the ties with Cabela because of that first order?

I can not address that today.
When I was traveling for my work m, I would observe CABELA’s and BASS Pro having exclusive and a reasonable assortment of LM PRODUCTS.

I have not kept up with market, relying on online web shopping.

PS: BASSpro bought Cabela’s or initiated the joining of their retail operations a few years ago.

PS2: I have not been in either store for at least 6 years, many things changed as result of COVID and changed how business is done.

Used the metal saw to shorten some socket screws. It would have been faster to use an actual hacksaw but where's the fun in that? Luckily I'm paid by the hour.
I used the awl to pilot a couple of screw holes

Great report and use of the file edge and awl!

I have used the file edge to cut soft steel several times.
The awl is perfect for guide holes too!

I do too Mags. They're probably the sharpest blades I've ever seen on a multi tool!

It's such an impressive tool Barry - I'd almost given up on Leatherman, but the Rebar is definitely a keeper. I might even have to get a back up when my wallet allows.

They really are Mags.  It's what Leatherman is meant to be.  Those wire cutters are fantastic too.  I got a car battery lead once with mine with no problem whatsoever.

Beautiful rebar, I have recently acquired a bond in burnt sienna, and had every intention of just throwing it in my pocket with my keys and change. But only managed it for about an hour before deciding to keep it in a slip.

I think once it picks up a few marks i will be less prissy with it.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

Lol, just an hour

I pop mine in my shorts pouch with keys and my SI so it's right at hand when I need it

I'd like to know your thoughts on the Bond. After pretty much given up on ever being lucky enough to own an original PST it's the next best thing so I'm tempted

I’m liking it a lot. Especially the newer blade shape and the fact it is under constant tension even when closed holding it firmly in place in both opened and closed positions.

The new blade shape looks pretty straight but has just enough belly in it to avoid having to use tte tip when cutting something on a plate.

I don’t really use scissors so no problem not having them for me and would only really use the saw on any of my multitools if I really had to which is never, as to deliberately use regularly it would soon dull and are practically impossible to sharpen once so. So no real issue there either.  I  really wish Leatherman sold the individual tools separately like sog do then I would be more inclined to use some more by choice and not reserved for when in a pinch, if I knew I could replace parts myself.

So for edc the bond in its configuration has everything I need and nothing I do not which makes it very light and compact to carry with or without the additional pocket clip. The only thing I would change if I could would be to add replaceable wire cutters, but apart from that it makes for a great light weight carry and would have been worthy of the name PST 3 if it had been given. And if it had it would have probably attracted me to it sooner as I initially wrote it and the curl off as sub par leatherman. I have never handled a curl so can’t comment but the bond is definitely not sub par.

My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

Thanks chip, that's a comprehensive write up and it's made me even more tempted. There's a shop around the corner from my work selling the ss version for forty quid so I might just cave eventually

At £40 it’s hard to pass up, but make sure it’s the updated version to avoid the tip of the blade biting you when using the pliers.

Thanks for the 'tip'. See what I did there.

Is there any way to tell which version it is other than opening it up?

And if it is the old version can the issue be remedied by reprofiling the blade?

They redesigned the blade not only to sit the tip lower in the handle but to remove the few degrees of travel from closed it could move freely, that combined with the blade shape allowed the problem.

I don’t know if this was a problem with all of the original design tools or just a few. But it was enough to prompt a revision.  I personally prefer the look of the revised blade shape but that’s horses for courses.

But to answer your question I don’t know if you could tell without handling it.

Thanks. I might have to pop over to the shop and do a bit of handling like I know what I'm doing then

Msgs

The 2nd gen BOND has one key feature that tells you it is a Gen 2

On the blade handle side, no pocket clip holes, the handle has no cutout or punch through.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Top is a gen 2

Bottom is a gen 1
The punch tap holds the blade higher for nail Nick to be accessible.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Looks like the shop around the corner is selling Bond version 1.0 off cheap.
I think I will leave my money in my wallet for now and apologise to my Rebar for looking at other shiny tools. I hope they forgive me

Rebar helped out with a few tasks at work today - I used the large flathead, Philips and serrated blade as well as the pliers (to grip some pesky pigtails)
