Gerber Artifact
on: May 24, 2012, 04:51:33 AM
Amici,
Any others here a fan of the Gerber artifact? I occasionally carry mine but seem to use it more around the house than for EDC. Personally, I think it's a great little tool, especially with the replaceable exacto # 11 blades.

One thing I found was strange is that I have read some real horror stories online about folks who cut themselves with it since it was not properly closed. This I've never had an issue with so once again, I found that possibility quite odd.

Cheers,
Serge

I used one at work everyday for ages, and thought it was a good, tough bit of kit :)

You can certainly use it and not worry about breaking the bank if it should snap :)

Try that with an Atwood ;) :D
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

I have carried mine for two years on my 'car keyring' and never had a problem with the blade  :salute:

The pry end is perfect for opening tins of paint and its shiny

 :D

Everything’s adjustable

I have two of them.  I never felt like the blade was going to pop open because the "speedbump" held the blade in place pretty well.  That said, I keep them on my packs' embedded fobs rather than on a keyring in my pocket.  I think the Shard appealed to a lot of folks since it had the solid bottle opener/prey action of the Artifact without the blade.

I removed the blade from mine.  For me the risk of serious injury, coupled with the constant movement of my keychain, wasn't worth it. It's an extremely sharp blade, if I need a blade like that I'd just carry a small retractable box cutter.
