Maglite XL200
on: May 28, 2012, 01:10:19 AM
Can anyone tell me (besides the increased lumens) how /if at all the XL200 differs from the XL100?  I'm trying to decide if I want to upgrade or not.

Thanks in advance.

other than lumens and runtime theirs no difference  that i know of, i checked out the maglite website ( xl 100: http://www.maglite.com/maglite_xl100_led.asp)

(xl 200: http://www.maglite.com/maglite_xl200_led.asp)
i have the xl200 and does suck up alkaline's  pretty quick if u use it on full blast for a long time
still pretty bright though, ive edc'ed the xl200 for a couple of months now and its not giving any signs of failing on me of course no maglites do, whats cool is i live like 15 minutes away from the maglite factory in Ontario, CA   8) yes im very tempted all the time  :D  cause its close and buying from the is like $20 cheaper than retail for a xl200. hope this helps!

I think the UI is different.  The 100 selects mode based on the rotary position (how you are holding it).
The 200 depends on clicks - better IMHO.

I received my red XL200 today and have been testing it out.  I like the new click system of operation - it makes the light much easier to use.  The increased brightness is also a plus.  Overall, I'd say it was well worth the upgrade (I paid $36 on Ebay).

I'm considering getting one of Mag's advertised holsters for it, but for now I'm using a Maxpedition flashlight sheath - it's working pretty well.

I was using my xl50 today to see into a car door.  They're great lights for the size /price.
