Wait no more!

I tried the push-away and pull-toward methods. Since the SOG can opener is very similar to the one on a Victorinox SAK, I'm surprised that the pull-toward method worked better. The PowerLock can opener isn't the gold standard among multis (that honor goes to a Wenger SAK), but it's a solid performer.

Nice wat to describe it, Farmer, and I've also found that the pull method works better.

:hatsoff: And I've been pretty impressed with the PowerLock thus far. It's scarcely left the "fifth pocket" of my Carhartts since it arrived!

Here's another reason why I really like my Powerlocks. Out of ALL my handtools (including my hoarding of KBMT's and PBMT's), the one driver that fitted like a glove in the pivot bolt of my "new" Champion was the one from the can opener/driver combo from a Powerlock: no play, right size, as if made for it; loved it! :like: :2tu:

Very cool looking PowerLock Juan. I really like the black oxide handle with stainless tools and hardware. Glad the small flat driver woks on your Vic.

This one is due for a :bump:

I cut up another old T-shirt today. The PowerLock's scissors didn't work well on the fabric. That's not an entirely surprising result, as it's been my experience that they work best at the tips. Generally speaking, scissors cut best on fabric when it's close to the pivot.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The blade did better, but it left a lot of stray threads. I suspect the serrations weren't designed with old T-shirts in mine. There is not a doubt in my mind that I would have had better results with a plain edge.

I am still planning on swapping out the scissors and blade. And I still like the PowerLock quite a bit.

:iagree: on both Dan.  The scissors aren't bad, but not Vic's.

Sharing my newest addition to my PowerLock family. Hoping if you know what model number it would be would be appreciated. This one does not have the scissors, 1/4” driver, or v-cutter. The large tool load out is, plain blade, serrated blade, saw, and three sided file. The small tool load out is bottle opener, large flat driver, can opener, Philips driver, and awl. I got lucky on this one, don’t think it was ever carried. Only blemish I could find after cleaning and lubing the pivots was a small scratch under the O on the handle with the SOG stamp.

That sheath looks good too!  Ones in that condition seem to be harder and harder to find these days.

Kudos on  such a nice find JonesE! It looks like an early S/B60; here's a link to a B60

Thanks Juan, That matches exactly what I have except for the black oxide. It gets confusing since when I checked the MTO wiki it lists a S60 as having partial serrated blade, scissors and the 1/4 adapter. The S61 is listed with cap crimper which mine has. In the end, it is in stock configuration, it just may not have a model number. Thanks for looking and providing a link.

I picked up a like new in the box early S60 this past week. I got it because it is the S60 version with scissors. It also lacks the cap crimper like the S61 and the S60 version I picked up two weeks ago that has a similar tool load out to the power plier. I still have one more in route so stay tuned.

I have a few SOG Powerlocks with which to join this club!  First picture is my 2000's work user, modified. Bought this at Lowes because of the awesome plier-head and the socket-driver tool. I subseqently broke the pliers while dis-assembling an old couch to be recycled - I think those pliers removed 10,000 upholstery staples from that one couch! I sent the tool to SOG, and they replaced the pliers head under warranty.

Next up is a BO version of similar vintage, recently acquired. Replaced the combo-edge blade with a plain edge blade, and got a new nylon sheath with bit-kit.

The last and most recent of my Powerlocks is a modified version with a Power Access plier head installed.  This mod was inspired
by builds made by JonesE, and Juan El Boricua.  Thank you both for the ideas and the tips for successful modding!  I had to remove the handle covers to get the hex-bit holder in the pliers-head to hold onto the bits tightly in the closed position.
