Leatherman PST Mod
on: August 21, 2012, 04:41:25 PM
Hello everyone! I thought it's time to share my latest project which is riding in my pocket all day long :D

It is a BO Leatherman PST with OHO SOG serrated blade, hacksaw blade, LM bit driver, LM PST awl, LM scissors, LM PST file, lanyard ring and a LM PST flat head screwdriver (for light prying).

The whole thing weighs 146g or 5.1oz.

It's surprisingly easy to open the blade one handed

The lock notch on the bit driver had to be welded and re-done since it does not fit "old style" Leatherman frames

I'm very happy with the results :D

That's very nice. I like how you put the bit holder in a pst.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Here's a picture of the lock notch on the bit driver

Sorry for the blurriness :P

The SOG blade had it's lock notch at the right spot, which means you don't need to weld anything (that's good news for me since I'm not able to re-temper the blade it afterwards). I did have to grind the "lock part" down abit though, since it was putting way too much pressure on the PST frame (I guess SOG tools have their frame springs more apart from the pivot). I also had to remove some metal from the spine of the blade, and obviously drill a hole for the thumbstud.

Yeah, about the lanyard rings. I did not like the positioning of the standard lanyard ring, so I made a new one. I have to shorten the pivot that's holding the standard ring if I want to remove it which should be fairly simple, but I dont mind it sitting there :D

I like it!
The simplicity of the old LM tools is what's nice about them. Just a shell to stuff tools into but it works well :tu:

HOLY STAINLESS-STEEL BATMAN!  This is my favorite modification. I've only recently gotten and PST and love it's size but only if it had the proper load out... Wham. This is perfect. I'd buy this a heartbeat. I'm posting several years after the fact, what are the chances you see this/ still have it/ would be willing to sell it/ in a price-range I can afford?
Well done!

Does anyone know which leatherman model the scisssors come from? I'd like to add them to my PST as well. Thanks!

It looks like a 2nd Edition Wave / Charge scissors, it may need some modification to fit as the tools in the 2nd Edition Wave all locks in place.

A PST II scissors will fit, the Original Wave scissors may also fit without modification.
