I like it a lot  :tu: I'd prefer it as a slipjoint blade, but I keep one in my glove compartment of the car. The light is nice and floody for looking around the car, and the tool set compliments the Super Bear Jaws (Toolzall ProXL) it shares the glove compartment with quite nicely

I've had a good look at 50ft's one and I liked it a lot. :tu:  If they were just a bit better priced over here I would have picked one up already, very likely I will at some point in the future. :)

Ya i just have to give it a far chance, There are a few things that gerber should have done, 1] magnetize the bit driver. That was a easy fix.  2] the blade is way to hard to deploy.  I think it would have been better if they would replace the small drivers with some kind of bit holder to carry hex bits or whatever. The light and tool combo work killer though.

I keep seeing the Fit for sale at the local Target.  Being a Gerber nut, I'm a bit surprised myself that I haven't grabbed it yet.   Maybe next week....... Looks like it would be handy to throw in my backpack and leave there for days I just don't feel like carrying everything on me.  :tu:

Does it take standard 1/4 hex bits?

Well yes an no, the long ones yes but Gerber FAILED to magnetize the bit holder, the bits are retained by a little ball on the side. Major fail i think.

I've been on the verge of picking one up a few times. seems like a sweet tool. If it were just a tad smaller.

I know what you mean, it would be nice if it was a bit smaller, but it doesn't feel too big in the hand. It kind of feels like it should be that size ... even though that seems quite a stupid comment now I've typed it  :P

Well yes an no, the long ones yes but Gerber FAILED to magnetize the bit holder, the bits are retained by a little ball on the side. Major fail i think.

That's a bit of a matter of opinion.  If you magnetize a bit driver all the tech guys scream at you because they can't use it for computers.  If you don't magnetize it everyone else screams at you.  As you pointed out though, it's easy enough to magnetize it if you prefer, so I imagine that's what the folks at Gerber were thinking when they made it this way.

Personally I like the Fit.  I think it is one of the few "block" type tools that are actually worth having.  Don't believe me?  Go get yourself a Kelvin 23 (or whatever it's called) and you'll see what I mean.  I think it's kind of a dumb name, but given that Honda is also using it for one of their cars I assume it's a trendy thing nowadays- and that's probably why I don't get it.

While the driver might be a bit bulky to get at some recessed screws, the same can be said for many standard screwdrivers so I don't see this as a flaw for the Fit itself, but in physics in general.  And, with the really lengthy small drivers the Fit really makes up for it.

About the only thing I don't like about the Fit is how obvious the battery compartment door is- hand it to someone who has never handled one before, or is not a multitool person and they'll invariably drop the battery and cover on the floor trying to figure out how to turn on the light.

Still, it's a slick design.  Yes, the probably could have incorporated more features into it, like wrench cutouts in the handle scales but I think that would have defeated the purpose of it- and that's to appeal to just about everyone- like the same trendy folks that would buy the Honda Fit for weekend camping trips at State parks, and who might also buy the Steady to hold their camera while they pose next to a Smokey the Bear statue.

Its a growing demographic and I think it's great that Gerber is jumping into it.

The local Meijer store (in Illinois) has the blue handled Gerber Fit priced at $27.99 on clearance.  I have thus far resisted buying one due, in part, to reading sour reviews on Amazon.com.

I just purchased the fit at target on sale. Its all over ebay also. I love it. In my opinion it's one of their better products. It looks like their version of a Swiss Army knife. The flashlight is plenty bright and the screwdriver attachment works well. If your looking for something small that can do a lot this is just what your looking for. I purchased the orange one. It's also made in blue. A must have for any gerber fan.

Try eBay. Right now there is one listed for 17.99 and I think the shipping is cheap. It might be free. It's orange. A good deal either way.

I have the same feeling, and in fact, most of the time that's absolutely right- however this isn't a standard type tool that someone added a light to in order to make it seem special on the shelf next to the rest of the cheap garbage.

The Fit, like few other multis with lights was actually designed around the light, rather than designed to be a set of multifunction pliers with a light stuck to it.
