Anyone know anything about CB radios?

Grant,
I'm a Ham Class instructor, the fee should only be about $15-$17 for the test, and about $35 for the textbook. Honestly, you could probably take the test without the textbook, there are several on-line resources for practice tests.

The most expensive part about getting licensed is the purchase of a Radio, but you can get a decent handheld these days for $150ish.

Whoops, forgot you're in Canada, but I believe their fees and such are about the same as ours on this side of the border.

Ham is a member of the Superfriends club with Database, Cosine, E-mail, Report Card and Lisa. He is a short fat kid with suspenders, a bow-tie and glasses. His name comes from his enjoyment of ham radio. Other than Lisa Simpson and Database, he makes the third most appearances out of the Superfriends.

I've got one of the Wouxun handhelds, they're probably the higher-end of the cheap Chinese radios, but they're pretty darned good. I've got a Puxing as well, and that's ok, but the battery croaked fairly quickly.

I get most of my Chinese radios from Ed at ImportCommunications.com. Good prices, and a US dealer that will take care of warranty issues and such.

Guess what arrived this week?

Now I need to find a good antenna for it, but I doubt I'll mount it until the new Jeep comes in, so I'll probably wait until then to buy a mount.
