ive had my eye on that set for the kids for Xmas, then of course the wife says yeah that would be perfect, one for each of you, the little guy gets the brain, the older one gets the fireball, and you get the raider, and on top of that you get oil, string and even a holster! Gee thanks Hun, I meant the kids not me! Well you said you want one, we'll yeah, but I want a aluminum one, lol JR

Wow I can't believe it's been so long, I could have sworn it was only a few months ago I haven't gone anywhere with this due to personal reason, but the little guy came to me the other day asking on yoyos, and I showed him how to just throw it and told him he's got to get that down before anything else, I had got one but I haven't gone anywhere with it, but I really want to get back into it. The one I got is a non-responsive one and I'm not to sure I'm ready for it, I might have jumped the gun, but having that bearing gives you so much more time, wow! So I'm probably going to have to get yet another, but this time responsive and with a bearing, a aluminum would be nice to but, I got to get back into the sing of things, lol! so I was wondering how all of you are doing? Did you all keep up or just give up? JR

JR, you're a yo-yo   Ha, couldn't resist that one   Anyway, I toyed around with a yo-yo when I was younger, but never got into it much, and never got into the tricks and whatnot.  I barely got able to keep it going for more than a few repetitions (I guess that's a word for it ).  I guess they just never kept my attention.

A few years back I carried one for a while to learn tricks (I was juggling knives at the time - not an EDC carry on that one for the UK) when bored, and got to a sort of reasonable standard in my mind. One day my nipper called my through to watch kid of about 8 on the TV that could do all the tricks I struggled with, so I became rather dispirited and drifted out of it

This is the one I bought the last time this thread came up.   It's plain old wood with no fancy bearings or anything. I think I paid $2 for it at a local store.

I still have little to no yo-yo skills but it amuses me. 

I'm trying really hard not to look online for something cooler. .....

Screw that, if your really thinking of getting into it you only need a few, not a few thousand! Dang! Let's see, there's the,
old school wood one like the boss got(nice find) which to start off is one of the best, but they either have a wood axel, or metal, for better longer spin..
Next up ones now with bearings, but responsive, bounce it and it will come up, then
Bearings but non-responsive, so as many times you bounce it to come up, it won't..
Oh and how it's shaped, (-) or )-( let alone what it's made out of, wood, plastic, aluminum, and even titanium!

I had a wood one but it disappeared some how, my little guy has two plastic ones with a metal axel and I got a plastic with bearing, but it's a non-responsive, so I kind of skipped one step, I love the bearing, OMG that thing will spin forever, but in order to get it to come back up you got to do all these loops for it to grab the string which I don't think I'm ready for. JR

Doesn't that suck? When you know you've just seen it the other day, but where , then you spend the next 4days looking, then "click" it pops in your head, you turn around and it's been within arms reach but just hidden from where you started, like duh! JR

Dang I guess it’s been a while, I just fig I’d bump it and see if anything’s changed? Since the last time I’ve come into a few, I haven’t really gotten much further but I’m thinking of upgrading and maybe going metal, anyway here’s a pic of the my collection, I even made that leather strap to hold one,, anyone else out there??
