We just spent a week in Florida, and are now safely home with our kitty retrieved from a friend's house. While there was some sadness, visiting my mother- in- law in an extended care facility, and realization that she's really not likely to recover, we still took joy where we could. So, here was the good part of it all...
I got to sleep on a boat! The house being full of other relatives, I got the comfy berth on a 25ft cruiser. Lapping waves slight rolling, and creaking dock sounds. Me, comfy in a sleeping bag.
Toddler! Our nephew is 18 months old. both fun and infuriating. Coats everything in snot and yogurt. Cackles like a maniac with the joy of hats. We were lucky enough to be the first to get him Duplo blocks for Christmas, a zoo set with lots of animals and a zoo keeper.
You know you' re on vacation when breakfast is 2 chocolate chip cookies, a slice of raspberry coffee cake thingy, and a rice crispy treat. LOL
My father- in- law has a navel orange tree. It is straight-up AWESOME to eat oranges fresh off the tree, and drinking fresh orange juice.
German feast; We have gone to a german restaurant each year for several years. They have a live band and the place is insane fun. 3-liter glasses of beer being passes around long tables while the band plays Ein Prosit. Some insanely tasty food, washed down (in my case) by a tasty hefeweizen.
Canaveral National Seashore, and day hikes in other nearby parks. Spotting gopher tortoises and similar fauna. Walks on sunny beaches that natives might find frigid, but we found quite warm.
