How do you multitool addicts display and store your collections?

This is a question for all the multi tool addicts out there. When I just had one or two tools I just kept them on my desk and grabbed whatever I felt useful for the days EDC. Now that I have about a dozen I wanted a better way to keep them handy but without cluttering up my desk. I plan to build a small wooden organiser bin that holds each tool in a row standing on end without their cases and then I can just grab what looks right for the day, slip it in an appropriate case while still have them all on display and handy to fiddle with.

So, whether a collector or a user (or both), what clever methods do you use to store/display them?

I 'display' mine on me..............

When not in use, I put some on a shelf in the bedroom, some on the end table next to my chair and some stay in place where I need them.

One of these days I am going to get around to building a nice display case.  I am thinking it shouldn't be too difficult- basically a box about four inches deep, maybe ~18 inches high with a shelf every 4-6 inches with a multitool on it.  If I make it about 24-30 inches wide I should be able to fit a good many tools in it, leaving about 4-6 inches per tool, depending on the size of it.

Ideally I'd hang it on the wall, but with that many tools in it and a glass front that sucker is going to weigh a ton!

Mine are hidden - no space to make a feature of them round here sadly.

The users are all over the place, and the less used or never used are hanging out together in some wooden drawers in the bedroom. I like to read them bedtime stories about brave tools of old, fighting for the kingdom with their tools all sharp and shiny :D

That is pretty much where I am at too. Most on my desk, the latest favorite next to the sofa on the end table, one in the kitchen, etc....

Just trying to figure out neat storage but handy access so I can keep them all together but it would be easy to grab the one I need.

Been putting something together today in the workshop. Not the final draft but a work in process. Pics when I settle on one to actually use.

Maybe a plastic shelf system like the one I have here. I keep this one on a shelf in the closet. The only problem I have with it is keeping my MTs in it. I really do use what I have and like to have them near me. The shelf was red and I painted it tan and kept the drawers clear. I like it :2tu:

Nice setup!

I keep looking on Craigslist to see if there are any old store displays like that glass one, but so far no luck.

Actually no, there are no IKEA stores here. The closest one is either Montreal or Toronto, which is about 1000-1500kms away from here.

Ni Ikea?  I thought they were everywhere. All they need to do is send the 127 tractor trailer loads of store parts and a 4mm hex wrench and you can have an Ikea store too

Our ikea opened at the start of this month. It took them about 6 months, but 5 years if planning and highway expansion.

I display some of my leathermans in this display case and rotate them about as I can't fit them all in at the same time. My other tools Vic and Gerber are in boxes and tins or my pocket or bedside table.
