Big Brother and Little Sister
on: February 04, 2013, 12:35:11 PM
These two knives were crafted from scratch by my sister while she was stationed in Western Australia a few years back when she was working for Outward Bound.

She forged, shaped, ground etc the blades from scratch, carved handles and made the leather sheaths. she was really upset with herself for rushing the staining on the larger one sheath after spent months merticulously doing all the rest. It was gifted to me as a birthday present. The small one is hers. She named them Big Brother and Litte Sister in japanese.

the balance on them is better than you expect from an amatuer project.

She is a art-jeweller, mostly micro macrame and you can see some of her pieces here

Thats two very good looking knives.  :tu:
I have tried making a few knives myself, and discovered that its fairly easy to make a knife, but very difficlt to make a good knife.
Looks like your sister has succeeded where I failed  :tu:

Strangely i actually prefer the little one. I'd like an opportunity to use them in the field but a little concerned about how. definately not in the same way i use my bk11 or bk13!
