Small Flashlight for my Skinth L-Shield
on: March 01, 2013, 10:18:15 PM
Just ordered a Skinth L-Shield for my LM Wave and I'm wanting a small light to go with it. Been looking at the Fenix E01 and the Thrunite Ti. What are you guy's thoughts on these two? Thanks.

No experience with the Thrunite, but the E01 is a tough, reliable bit of kit. Just depends whether it is bright enough for you (it wasn't for me).

Other lights in this category worth considering are:

Fenix E05
Fenix LD01
Olight I3
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

I've been very pleased with my Preon 1 with a clicky switch.  Great little pocket light.  Be wary of the tints though... I've found FourSevens to be very inconsistent with their tints.

Really like the reviews on the Thrulite Ti, but I just wish it had a pocket clip.

Just to make your choice a little harder ThruNite make a Ti2 that has 3/81 Lumens (no pocket clip either  ::) )

Love the ThruNite Ti.  If you really like the look of it then the good news is that the pocket clip from a Fenix LD01 fits on mine.  I believe they are sold separately.

Where would be a cheap place to buy the Ti or Ti2? Also where to get that clip!

Any version of the ITP a3/Maratec AAA/Olight i3 (same light different brandings and slight UI and beam colour variations) would serve you nicely. If you wan't simple but reliable, Fenix W01 is indestructible.

I got my Ti as a bundle deal direct from ThruNite themselves (along with a T10) sadly they don't seem to be doing the same offer any more. :-\  Lots of on-line stores sell ThruNite though so have a good look around for a deal.

I've only ever spotted the LD01 pocket clip in UK based shops, but I've never really looked hard as I already have one. :D  An example here though: http://www.myfenix.co.uk/fenix-ld10-pocket-clip-424

Thanks for the link to the pocket clips Gareth  :salute: something else to spend my money on

The prices of the Ti and the Ti2  have really rocketed since just before Christmas  :(

It’s also worth taking a look at both of their Fleabay shops to get the best price  ;)

You never hear anyone say anything bad about the Olight i3.  I have a near cousin, the iTP A2 (basically the same light but using an AA cell) and it's never let me down.

I just tested my Thrunite Ti in my L Skinth. It fits a bit tighter than the Solitaire that usually lives there (together with a spirit and a Diplomat Spacetec eith a Spacepen pocket clip), but it definetly fits.

On a sidenote. You can force the Pocket clip of a Maglite solitaire onto a Thrunite - I just did and it´s a very tight fit - I opened teh Clip momentary with a flat wide screwdriver (from teh Spirit) to fit it. Looks like i need to find a spare one to mount it there.

The Thrunite Ti is my EDC in my Jacket pocket and is a bright enough for inspection work and finding a way in teh dark, i find myself using the Mini Mag LED mod in my work bag less and less.

I'm a fan of the Ti too - superb value little light with a nice easy UI.

My second choice would be a Preon 1 with a clicky - that's my go to evening light for my "soft" clothes :D

There aren't many, if any, modern LED lights that are as slim as a Solitaire.  Good to know the Solitaire clip will go on the Ti. :tu:
