They did play the 10 Commandments. I think I saw it on ABC; my wife and I had a good laugh, she'd never seen it in English before.

I liked Charlton Heston. We were just watching him Friday night in Planet Of The Apes on the classic movies channel. (Gawd what a horrible movie, but somehow I couldn't switch the channel)  :P

A film icon for those of my generation, capable of holding his own with the likes of Gary Cooper, and Laurence Olivier. While many younger people may tend to think of his activism restricted to more conservative issues,it's often  forgotten or neglected that he marched with Martin L. King Jr. for civil rights.

Yes, I've seen it, but not since in the 70s.  Based on the book "I Am Legend."  An earlier movie version was made with Vincent Price and a more recent version with Will Smith.

A better Heston sci-fi movie was "Soylent Green," with Heston and Edward G. Robinson.

My favorite later Heston movie was "The Mountain Men" with Heston and Brian Keith which was released around 1980.

Lots of beautiful scenery and realistic action.  An accurate portrayal of the lives of frontier fur traders and Blackfeet Indians in the early 19th century.  Some of it was based on the adventures of a real life mountain man named John Colter.

The Grim Reaper was the only thing that could make Moses drop his rifle.

It's not just a loss for movie lovers, it's a great loss to the NRA and firearm enthusiasts and collectors of all types.

Get your hands off him you damned dirty angels....

I'm truly saddened. Chuck Heston was one of my favorite actors-he seemed a fine human being and a very honorable man.  "The Omega Man" was a film I loved from my kiddie days- along with "Soylent Green" and "The Planet of the Apes" . ABC did show "The Ten Commandments" around Easter.

"The Soylent Green" is another movie of Charton Heston that I watched twice.

"Soylent Green" is one of those films, like "Planet of the Apes", that no one else could pull off with the same effect as Chuck Heston-witness how lackluster the sequels to PotA were without him (I know he did a bit in "Beneath"-the only time it perks up). There's something about him that when he divulges Green's secret (I won't tell here for fear of spoilers) with that final scream, you don't laugh. Edward Robinson has such chemistry with Heston as well. He was spectacular in "Will Penny" even though the film as a whole didn't do it for me.

Yep, and on both issues(guns and civil rights) he was on the side of freedom.
