Multitool in a box or blister pack?

I was about to buy a LM rebar (in blister pack) on a local online seller but then decided to look one
at the mall and found out that rebars are sold in boxes. If I buy it and meet up with a seller, I can't open the packaging and examine the tool so in that case, an unsealed box is better. What do you think?

The sealed clam shell ensures it is brand new and unused, but I always prefer to keep the boxes.

Definitely the one in a box for me (and I'm sorry to say, but especially with the "cheaper" Leatherman tools, cheap being a very relative term over here by the way ).  I've had some bad experiences when I bought my Rebar and my ST300, since then I need to hold the tool in my hands before I take it home with me.

I need to check out a couple of them.  The guys at my local store already know me, when I'm there to buy a tool they always take out like 10 of them so I can choose the one I like most  .

Anyway, no more blister packed Leatherman tools for me  .

In a blister pack, you know it is new and UNUSED.  In a box you cant be sure so you will have to look it over carefully.

I buy them both ways but prefer the box ones so I can at least take it out and play with it as well as inspect it.

I always like to touch before I buy. So, I would say boxed. That way you can see the condition of the tool, used or not.

I'm old and grumpy enough that I want a box, so I can take it out and look at it before I buy.

I had the sales ASSistant look at me funny when I bought my olive wood Opinel because I wanted them to take several out of the box so I could pick one with nice grain.
I mean, that's the whole point... or I would have saved the extra money and bought a plain vanilla one.

I look at the return policy first. If I can return it at no cost either way is fine for me. From a collector's point I like the blister pack. An untouched item hold their value longer. If it is a user it makes no difference to me.

Box. The main reason I don't like buying things on the Internet is I want to check what I'm getting before I buy it, apart from being broke last time I checked

I am against blister packs though I see the point of their being. (Besides, imagine you have kept a tool hermetically sealed in its blister pack for say 30 years only to open it one day and find out it wasn't good from the beginning ?)
