Those ones are a bit out of my price range, plus I hate that whining noise they always make...

I hear/read they are pretty quiet now, waaay better then the old ones and they don't "dance" on your counter either lol

plus these "Zo's" (nickname) are suppose to be made really good (hence the price) and are really quiet (play cricket sounds here)

Shipped!

As a bonus, I noticed the price was $11 lower yesterday morning.  I contacted Amazon and asked for the difference in price back, since the unit hadn't shipped yet.  (I did mention that I could always cancel the order and re-order, but just getting refunded seemed easier).

...and they agreed.

Oh, and the price went back up to the old price about 40 minutes later.  :o

I don't recall seeing my invite to come have some pound cake. I can only assume it was misplaced. :D

I occasionally make bread in my little dutch oven, the 'almost no-knead' recipe from Cooks Illustrated. Man, now i want to make bread.

That looks great!  I miss fresh bread..... but then I can't remember the last time I bought a loaf either.  Usually when I have a sandwich or peanut butter or anything that would require bread I buy rolls or bagels.  Of course the bread machine could make nice fresh rolls too...

Delicious.

I've been fastidious about following the directions, but the whole process is just as easy as the old machine EXCEPT the delay function is SO much simpler.

The pound cake met my hopes and greatly exceeded my expectations. Same with this first loaf.  It's clear our old bread machine has been having troubles for a while.

It is extremely quiet, very tidy and if it continues to perform like this, absolutely worth the price.  :)

I'm embarrassed to admit we've made 6 cakes and only 2 loaves of bread! :ahhh

Pound cake, lemon cake, orange cake, banana nut cake (actually a couple lemon and orange cakes ;)).

One whole wheat and one honey white loaf.

The machine is fantastic!

Nice!  We looked at the Panasonic breadmaker very closely.  The cake mode on the Zojirushi was the deciding factor for us.  I want an update when it arrives and goes into service!

I think I have a defective machine or quality control was off that day doh >:(

it's really loud in the mixing cycle, louder than even my old cheapie one I had before. sounds like a refridgerator rolling down a hill sideways! squeaky/rattly/clanky I'm sure it's not suppose to be this way.

my friend who has one (for years, same one older model) says mine is broke and hers doesn't sound like that. hers is more of a low rumble not high/squeaky/rattling like mine lol doh

I triple checked (even more) the placement of the pan and paddles inside before running it and even then it seemed "loose" and not secure inside.

so I called Amazon and they are sending me a new one by Thursday, can't ask them for more (salute)

but I'm still making bread in this one and will keep making it until I get the new one! lol :salute:

Total bummer.  On an up note, this is one of the great reasons to shop at Amazon.  The make things right and do it quickly.  :)

the new machine works good, quieter! (still has some noise from poor design but better)  :salute:

I've made basic white, rye, cinnamon raisin (twice), cranberry and right now I'm making a garlic bread bowl for spinach dip later :) I use the machine for mixing/first rise (2nd rise now in oven)

Mr W does your new machine have a water reservoir for better crust? (baking secret) I was just wondering  ;)
