initial thought on my fitbit one
on: July 22, 2013, 08:44:12 PM
so a friend ungraded her fitbit and gave me her old one, its the fitbit one.
ive had this thing for about a week and its a pretty great MULTItool.  it tracks steps taken, calories burned, stairs climbed, total distance, and how much sleep you had.
the web site ( no cost to log info and manage your device ) has even more cool stuff, you input your food and it solves the calorie breakdown and graphs all info from the device and the manual inputs in an easy to read format.

now admittedly I am in good shape and an not interested in weight loss per se but I love the food feature as I like to see what ive eaten in terms of fat/carb/protein/sodium etc breakdown.  I also get a kick out of the steps I take per day which translates into mileage.  I had a 12k step day on sunday which was just under 6miles.

its easy to carry as I slip it into my coin pocket and forget its there and when I get home it automatically sends the info to my laptop ( as long as im within 20 feet ).   the only manual input really is what you've eaten per day and that can be done rather quickly.

anyway thought id share this cool little MULTItool with those that need a realistic idea of their daily activities vs calorie intake vs calorie output.  it all so simple and to me a great tool to aid anyone looking to shed some pounds or in my case just monitor my caloric intake ( quality of food ) vs activity level per day.

I wont post a link as this item can be easily found online if interested.

My wife has one, and the scale.  The scale never really worked properly and I think she lost interest in both parts of it as a result because she's never used either one of them.

From what I saw of it while I was setting it up, it looked like a really neat device.

I didn't know there was a scale.  its a pretty simple device and to me a good tool to track and measure the basics.  entering food can be a pita but it really shouldn't take more than 10 mins.  I like how it does the calorie break down totals everything up then gives an over view for the day and week.  it has helped me make better choices ( I need more protein ) and monitor my energy levels.  on average I walk 4-6 miles every day and burn 2500-3000 calories daily.  I was slowing by midday as I  just wasnt eating enough. this could be the similar for someone eating too much and not burning enough and not understanding why they weren't loosing weight.  I like it so far and since its so simple to put into my pocket I don't have to thing about it at all.
