I don't know how to say this. Bad news, please read when you have time

Hey everyone,
I hate to be a downer here, and I'm usually the last one to get serious on this site, but I have just received some bad news from a good friend- someone you pretty well all know. Crouton, aka Jeff has been a member of this forum for many years now, and has done some very cool things for us here, and was always around to help with any info he may have had.
One piece of info that I knew, and kept to myself because he asked me not to mention it to anyone, was that Jeff has cancer. I just got a good bye email from him- apparently the time left to him is very short, and he isn't doing too well. The very act of writing the email was a lot of effort for him, and I find writing this post is taking a fair bit out of me as well.
For those who don't know, Jeff made the infamous Tiger Stripe Charge TTi for me:
We'd planned to make more when he was feeling better. I'm not usually one to pry, and knowing he was sensitive about his condition I never pushed to see how he was. I knew he would have told me when he felt up to it, but now it looks like that day will never come. This piece, like Jeff himself, is one of a kind.
I hate saying good bye to friends, and it's hard to express how important someone was when you've never met them face to face, never shaken their hand or told dirty jokes over a jug of beer with them, but I'm sure anyone who knew Jeff will feel the same way.
So, the best I can do is make sure that Jeff will be remembered. We have a chance with him, a chance that most people don't get. This is our opportunity to say Good Bye. I wasn't sure I wanted to post anything at all, but in the end I don't think it would be fair to others who thought as highly of him as I do, so please, take a moment to say your farewells to one of the greatest members Multitool.org is ever likely to have. Maybe he'll get a chance to read through it before his time comes, and hopefully it will give him some comfort.
Good bye buddy. You will be missed.
Grant

Jeff, I am new here and did not really know you, but I know how this forum family interacts, and if Grant had good things to say, then it must mean you are a great person. Thank you for all you did here, and you left a legacy here in this forum
Best wishes

I don't know what to say either.

This is very sad news.
Although I have not had much experience with Jeff, his passing will be a sad one.
I hope he finds peace and will find himself in a better place.

I have seen you around here and there as I'm sure you have seen me. This forum is a place where friends are made and as long as its members continue to show that humans have hope you will live here always. I'm really unsure of what to say
. You will be missed, both here and wherever you may be. Take care dear friend, and I hope to see you one day, one place, one time.....
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Take care my friend.

Jeff,
It's been a pleasure sharing this intimate little corner of cyberspace with you
and if you've been as wholesome in the real world as you have in our virtual world here, you will be remembered fondly by many many people for a long long time. I consider MTo as being more of a family than a forum, and there are numerous members of this family that I wish I could share a laugh and a beer with and shake their hand, and I am sorry we never had that pleasure. Thank you for being one of the great people round here that have elevated this place to family status, and I hope us crazy loonies made as positive an impact on you as you have done on our merry little band.
Farewell Jeff, and my best wishes to everyone special around you
Thank you for being you

This is so sad I'm not even sure what to say. My great uncle just died of cancer last week so now I will have lost two people in my life. I haven't been on this forum for more than a few months but this is very sad.

Crouton (Jeff),
When I first joined MTO years ago, you were one of the members who really made me feel like I had come to a special place. Over the years, I've enjoyed reading and interacting with you.
I am so sorry about your condition. I hope you realize how much impact you've had through your time here. You will always be a huge part of MTO. Peace to you and your family.

Crouton (Jeff)
I remember one of the first posts I saw from you about upgrading the flash memory of a Vic USB and i thought to myself that this was a guy who knew what's what. Them later to find out about tiger striping a Leatherman. You are awesome. There is a special place for you up there. Maybe if we're lucky, we can join you someday. I'm sure if there's any room to improve or just make things a little more special, you'll find it.

Ah man, both my grandfather and my father in law passed from cancer, I'm not to good with words when it comes to things like this, but I must say, the people on here are so friendly and make you feel like family, now with that said here is a little quote I found to help, you will be missed!

Wow, very sorry to hear of this Jeff. I have seen you around here occasionally, but never really had any interactions with you. However, this place is like one big extended family and we've all made friends and shared helpful info and whatnot. It sounds like you were a valued contributor here, and will be greatly missed. That tiger striped Charge is awesome btw
I don't know what else to say as things like this are difficult to put into words sometimes. I pray for you and your family during this time, and may you find peace when the time comes

Jeff, I've still got a certain Leatherman Charge that you donated years ago, and as a matter of fact when I needed to use it earlier today I thought of you. And I will continue to think of you every time I use it in the future. Best of luck to you on your journeys ahead my friend, I hope our paths cross again some day.
