I really just feel the need to vent here, I'm not sympathy fishing.

My GF/Partner and I were just coming up to 3 years together in a few more weeks.

While I was away on the trip up north with the boys I got a "Dear John" text message.

"Need to tell you this, I've met someone, didn't plan it but I need to pursue this, I'm sorry."
or some such wording.

Now I won't lie and say that we haven't had a slightly rocky patch lately, but I hardly expected this outcome, and not in such a heartless manner.

BAH!    Women... You can't live with them and you can't throw rocks at them.

The heart wants what it wants man.  It's sad when this kind of thing happens, and that's a particularly nasty way to have it happen, but this is the way life is.

Things won't be the same from here on in, but they will be ok.  Be happy for her, and for yourself.  Remember the good times and move on.  Life is too short to hang on to things.

Sorry to hear this!  That is a crappy way to do it, but as said, better now than 10yrs down the road.  Keep your head up, and remember we're here for you to vent to anytime you need!

So sorry. Didn't even have the guts to tell you in person. Things will get better. I am sure some us has been there. I have. It sucks a little at first, but it will work out and you just may find someone better.

Due to this catch-and-release plan you are now free to find someone who will appreciate you.  Remember the good times and try not to get too bitter and twisted (it won't help you much at all).  And now you won't have to answer to anyone for any MT/SAK purchases (or any other activities for that matter).

Sorry to hear about the breakup.

It might hurt a bit now, but might be the best for a long run--personally, I won't want to be someone if she could dismiss a relationship in such casual manner.

Just to share, in relationship, I only have one iron rule--I refuse to continue a relationship, if the gal ever mention the word 'breakup'.  The principle being I don't have the desire to be in a relationship just because I 'fear of losing' her nor do I want her to use this as a tool to get what she wants.

Wise words boss. That's pretty much the frame of mind I'm in anyway.

It's not the first time I've been traded in and I dare say it won't be the last. That's just the way some women work. My main gripe with it all is that she texted me halfway through the trip. It certainly took the edge off things having that in my mind.

I also regret the number of Multitools i could have bought with the money I spent on taking her to New Zealand for her 40th a couple of months ago. But as has been said, I'll remember the good times from that trip and move on.

So, as they say... plenty of fish in the sea.  I'll just have to find someone else to do pillion duties on the back of the Ducati.

An adventurous sort like yourself with a Ducati?  She may have traded you in, but I doubt you'll have any problems trading up.  I don't know what things are like there, but here a middle aged guy with no major faults and a lot of interesting stories is never lonely.

Actually it's funny how things work out. Quite by chance I happened to stumble back into contact with a very lovely lady (K) who i had a fledgling relationship with not terribly long before I met the recent ex (L)...

So, K and I stopped seeing each other mainly at her request because she had too much going on in her life with dramas in her business and her elderly mother was ill and just into a rest home.
From talking with her on the phone it looks like both of us are interested in seeing if things pick up again somewhere about where they left off.
We now have a dinner date planned and I guess we will see.
Watch this space...

That is the sort of thing that has happened to a few of my mates. Those mates are now happy in the best relationship they've had and some have married, as a result.
