Cool. I bet we will see a prototype of this tool, and hopefully a few more (juice sx, crater sx, a 4" OHT )

I want a 4" Surge.

Wave?

No, larger scissors and an awl.

Another little update over at LegalForce, or Trademarkia, or whatever...

"Status Update! On Tuesday, December 24, 2013, status on the LEAP trademark changed to PUBLISHED FOR OPPOSITION."

Again, I don't know what that means, but I am ready for SHOT to happen already.

it means someone already owns the trademark in this case, for LEAP is a razor/blades/etc "handtools" from someone's registered trademark. ;-)

(although its registered by a lawyer company so..)

Shooting Hunting and Outdoors Trade show.  It's the biggest outdoors trade show in the world.

Unfortunately I won't be going this year either.  I think Bob was going to try to go but I never heard back from him on whether he was going to make it or not.

Shot show is THE trade show where the new products first get announced.

And, in case it wasn't evident from the rest of the thread, SHOT show is where companies like Leatherman, Camillus, Gerber, SOG, etc. usually unveil their new products for the upcoming year. Hence the excitement.

So, 'LEAP'...

It says scissors so there are at least two parts. :D

It actually says:

Quote from: LEAP - Trademark Details
Multi-function hand tools comprised of any combination of pliers, wire cutter, knife, saw, scissors, screwdrivers, tweezers, a ruler, and a lanyard ring
LEAP - Trademark Details

So I think its safe to assume that its not a one piece ;)

This is a follow-up to metasyntax's post in the 'SHOT has started' thread.

Here it is, the Leatherman LEAP.
http://www.alloutdoor.com/2014/01/14/leatherman-introduces-leap-multitool-kids-colored-juice-variants/

A tool specifically designed for younger users. While it might not be exciting to many of the users here, it is about the most awesome thing I could think of.

I'm going to post here what I posted in the 'SHOT' thread.

This tool uses the Juice scale plier head, and has four outboard locking tool slots. It's assembled with screws, instead of peened, and if the idea is to be able to add the blade once it's safe, then that means it will CONTINUE to be made with screws instead of peened. That makes this tool a good deal more friendly to customization than the Juice line.

I'm seeing a good deal of potential.

Not sure I'm a fan of a plastic lanyard ring, though.

I sure won't be rushing out to get my hands on one of those any time soon. I wonder how much $$ they're going to ask for it. Might not be so bad for $15 or $20, I'm sure my 7 year old would like it just fine.

I'd be shocked if it didn't start at about $30, at least initially.

At least they tried something new, I'm all up for that and if the tools are not as chunky as they appear in the picture this might be a good thing. But I do hope its also available in pink or else girls might feel left out ;)

I've been looking at the pictures more closely. I'm pretty certain it's not EXACTLY the juice head. It seems less needle nosed. But I do believe it's on that approximate scale.

With the blade beng optional this should be good, but I cannot quite get excited about this for some reason.
