sawman having computer problems...

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know I'm having some pretty nasty problems with my laptop so if I disappear for a while it's not because I lost interest and I'll be back as soon as I can get this squared away  :tu:

If I can help people I will do the best I can, for the record here is what I have

Certifications
Network+
Security+
AccessData Mobile Examiner (Cell phone forensics certification)

then for certificates and degrees
Cisco Networking  (have not used this knowledge, so VERY rusty)
Linux Administration
Fiber Optics Technician
Security Administration
Computer Forensics Technician
Computer Forensics Analyst
AAS in Electronic Information Technology
AAS in Network Security and Administration

I am a big Linux user  and I am not too shabby at password recovery  >:D
I have recovered files from many hard drives, even if they were formatted (Quick format only, full format is just gone as far as what I can do)

I have a forensics workstation at work, and can actually do this type of thing at home too.

I do not want to be beat up with work, (you know where that is all you do) but I can help via pm, email and chat for free.  Malware removal, password recovery, and file recovery I can do and I work very cheap.
If I can help, let me know

Looks like a lot of the things I intended to get into but weren't really available when I went to school.

I still do some of that off and on.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

I guessed as much with your phrase of "I am geek, hear me code!"

I am trying to lean some programming, but it is not my favorite area.  I like bash scripting, and I am not too bad in PowerShell, but I will always be in school.

My job requires continual education. but I go because I love it and because of my military service, I have money for college.

If I can help, let me know

that education took 8 years!

I am still in school too, and I love to learn!

before all of this, I was a weapons system / Radar technician.

anyway, I am just glad Sawman is up and running, and I hope is issue does not re-surface.

if it does, I will see what we can do to fix his issue.
If I can help, let me know

Just a quick update:

Everything is running quite smoothly. I have piled on open apps and multiple windows in an effort to recreate the problems with no avail. My memory / freezing problems are solved.  :tu:

detron has set up a new thread for pc help. It's very informative and not to pimp detron out but if you have any pc problems he might be able to save you a costly repair.  :salute:

Thanks again detron for all your help!

I studied as an Electronics Engineering Technician in the early 90s, worked in electronics manufacturing for several years and then moved to IT. I never had many chances to get any further education and pretty much learn as I go, it'd be frightening if I actually had some certs. I haven't worked much in my actual specialities for most of the time I've been in Spain... Apart from the odd side job and MTO of course. Although I know I should study something but also have no idea what would be useful for the current employment situation and would actually be interesting for my skill set.

yeah, I started as a weapons / Radar technician in the Navy,  wanted to work on computers, but did not work out.  I ended up getting out of the Navy and then used my G I Bill money to go to school.  however, I had already landed my IT job. (day 1 out of the Navy I was picked up as a contractor for hte Navy, then 3 years later got a Navy Civilian job.  I was noticed because I was able to fix proprietary systems, guess that showed ingenuity and determination.
I have always tried hard, and do not complain much, I think that is a big part of my successful IT integration.  but I try to learn constantly.
If I can help, let me know
