Hi from Scotland - help required!
on: September 24, 2013, 10:56:55 PM
Hi I'm hoping that some nice person on this forum may be able to help me.

I stupidly had to surrender my Leatherman PSTII tool in Barcelona airport last night. I didn't realise it was in my hand luggage having used it to cut some fruit for my son at lunchtime... boo hoo.

I had the tool for many years and all I have left is the case. I'm hoping that I might be able to pick one up on this forum or be directed to it's nearest equivalent. I liked its size and selection of tools.

Oh mate,I feel for you,I really do! I done something similar with a 91mil Vic Tinker at Gatwick a couple of weeks ago,but OMG,a PST2?!

Your nearest modern match could be a LM Fuse or Kick,or maybe a Gerber Balance.

How critical are scissors to you? PM me if a PST interests you :pok:
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

Thanks - it was a sad moment for sure... felt so stupid and nothing I could do to stop it.
Plane was due to depart and no time to figure a plan B...

I realise now that these are quite sought after and you can't buy on Ebay in the UK. I've posted a wanted ad but will probably go and look at a the Fuse, kick and the Rebar.

I'll PM you re the PST, oh and thanks for the nice reply. G

Make a post in the Tools Needed Forum and ask for one. I'm sure some members would sell one to you.(for a lot of money)

The Kick is now discontinued too, but fairly easy to get hold of as not all stores have sold out yet. You'll need a Fuse if you want scissors though, which means introducing locks into the equation ... unless you're prepared to start modifying tools.

For UK carry there's the Juice S2 or a Gerber Balance which might work well for you  :tu: They don't have the wonderful diamond file though .... you'd need to go for an XE6 for that which is quite chunky/heavy in comparison

There are a couple of psts on preloved and a fuse (although I think I would try amazon if I was going for a fuse).
Just been on amazon the blast for £58 is probably the closest to what you lost.

..... Actually ....

I think Dunc, one of our UK members had a spare PST2 a while back
Might be worth sending him a PM

Don't worry about it- it happens to us all at one point or another.  When I was going to my brother's wedding we had gotten them a nice kitchen set with a marble cutting board and some other things in it.  My wife had spent a lot of time trying to get the wrapping absolutely perfect, and at the last minute we decided to bring it as carry on so it wouldn't get crushed.  There were no knives in the set so I thought we were safe, until security scanned it and found a rotary pizza cutter in it.   ::)

I spent a lot of time studying various fighting techniques and ancient weapons and I can say that a pizza cutter would be the least effective weapon in a kitchen, but it was too offensive for an airline.  Since our bags had already been checked we had to tear open the package, pull out the pizza cutter, I had to run through the airport to the postal outlet, frantically package up the cutter and mail it to my parents because I didn't know my brother's address.

My brother also lost a Swiss Card because he forgot it was in his wallet.   ::)

This is why I suggest to folks that they ignore the TSA friendly type tools and just do without for a few hours while locked in an airplane.  If a pizza cutter or Swiss Card can be classed as a WOMD, imagine what a set of scissors could do?  :P
