Glad you got yours all in one piece Mike, I was a bit worried a couple of days ago, but all's well that ends well ay?
I will also second what he said about the quality, mine appears to be completely unused (not for long though).

Question for the buyers of these ... are you actually using them? If so, is it for nostalgia's sake, or because you actually consider it a good tool?

Genuine question BTW. I have a PST II (never owned a PST) in reserve for laying to slaughter should I ever get another PT-510 I want to add the scissors and diamond file to ... but I don't particularly want to use it as it is. There's too many "better" options out there which don't hurt the hands  :P I think the only time it's ever really been used is to hold the tool adaptor for using hex bits  :D

To answer your question, I bought mine to be a user, although sort of for the same reason as you. I've had a Tool Adapter for some time but no PST (or variant) to use it with. I've seen plenty for sale on EBay but mostly in the States and none would ship over here. I jumped at this one because it was BNIB and BO. Now I can use my Tool Adapter, though as you say the handles can bite into one's fingers. The PST I doesn't have the full range of tools of say, my Blast and certainly wouldn't compare to something like a ST300, but on the other hand it is non-locking and therefore I carry it with me. I EDC mine with a set of small, folding Fiskars scissors and that setup gives most of the basic functionality that I need.

Incidentally, would you know if they ever produced a BO version of the Tool Adapter??

Mine was bought as a user, effectively as an upgrade to my KST.

I've written about it elsewhere, but until the Christmas rush starts,I expect to be using the KST. When things start getting heavy again,I'll probably go back to my modded Fuse

You mention you EDC the PST because the blades don't lock, are you certain it still won't fall foul of S.139 guidelines as the blade is "not readily foldable at all times"

You're talking about when the handles are closed and the knife blade is out, right?
Well, I don't want to become a test case but I would argue that the tool has no locking mechanism. It is incapable of being locked in one fixed position. And even when the handles are closed, it does still fold to some degree. It certainly isn't secured in place by a lock. I've just tested it and the blade actually forces the handles apart if pushed down on hard enough, rather than being locked in place.
However, I really don't want to ever have to put that to the test legally, so it's back to scouring the web for a knifeless Fuse...again.

My thoughts also. I think the locking screwdrivers could cause a problem on a fuse, a modded kick or PST with the blade removed might be ok.

There's a thread somewhere in the Mod Squad with my Bladeless Wonders, and a small number of us Brits have done bladeless conversions to,let me think,PSTs,Geber MP400s,SOG PPP,and Powerlocks,Fuses and Kicks. There's also been bladeless SAKs done too!

But about the locking drivers,as TaxiDad says,if they're going to nick you for that, they're going to nick regardless!Even if your clean on everything, they'll find something!

Regarding the legality, you could argue that a non lockable slip joint knife like a sak explorer is not readily foldable, as if held properly your fingers would get in the way?  I carry a PST II almost everywhere, if I ever got nicked for it I would prove that it doesn't lock by getting the duty sergeant to try and undo a stiff screw with it, I guarantee that the fact that the handles can be held together will not stop the driver folding in on them.

That is very nice indeed Paul.

There's no way I could mod one of these myself (not lazy, just do not have the technical skill required)... forgive me a bit of a crass question here, but do you (or could you) mod as a sideline? Or is it purely a labour of love?

This has been talked over many times over the years, on many forums, and i don't believe I've ever heard a definitive answer.  It's one of the reasons we don't list the PST, Kick etc in the UK Legal Carry Thread.  In my opinion it's still a non-locking knife, but I'm no lawyer so don't take that as gospel.

You're talking about when the handles are closed and the knife blade is out, right?

Personally, and again this is just my opinion, I don't believe screwdrivers should really be an issue as I don't see how they could be defined as an "article which has a blade or is sharply pointed"

The reason people get lifted for carrying a screwdriver is if the Police believe they are doing to to use it as a weapon, and carrying ANYTHING to use as a weapon (even for 'self defence') is against the law.  But that's a whole different piece of legislation.

Again, and I want to make this very clear, this is all just my opinion as a reasonably informed member of the public and the line "but officer, Gareth from MT.org said it would be OK" is not going to be seen as a good defence in court. :D
