so I decided to try a new approach at an inventory spreadsheet that helps date the SAK as well.  I am trying to make this into a database, but I know excel so much better than Access, so I wanted to test my proof of concept in a format I understand.

I know this is NOT the way many people would do it, but I thought if anyone wanted my sheet, then I would share it

the video description of this spreadhsheet can be watched here

after watching the video, read below

near the end of the video I discus the pin hole on the scales.  as it turns out those scales were replaced, so the SAK is 1987-1990, not TRANS 1990-1991 as I said.  I was too lazy to do that video over.

the file is located here

now, another thing I am working on slowly with this spreadsheet is using pictures in comments.  if you go to the "front tools table" sheet and hover over the different can openers, you will see them pop up.

This is great! (Spreadsheets FTW)

this should have said 1987 - 1990, not 1978-1990.

MODs,  can you fix that in the post to avoid further confusion?  thank you

found a bug in the spreadsheet.

I will have it fixed and uploaded in the next day or so.  I forgot to lock some cell references, so the first entry will work great,  but subsequent rows will be wrong.

I will post here when done

You’re trying to pull up a spreadsheet from a member’s personal dropbox that was originally posted 9+ years ago, when that member hasn’t been online here for 3+ years.  So, I’m not shocked that the link no longer works.

If you have SAK dating questions, note that all the info is in SAKwiki; the spreadsheet was just an attempt to put it into an easier-to-use format.  And if you can’t find the answer to your question in SAKwiki, you can always post your question here, though I would recommend starting a new thread for it.

Thanks Nate - Spot on

However @Yanaussauro - I do have a copy of Detron's sheet - So if you PM me an email address I can send it to you.

Hopefully you have also seen this table, which works just as well

And the other posts in this thread

Yes, I know it is an old topic, and am aware that the member is out od contact, and yes, I have been dating my SAKs through SAKWiki for the last couple of three years, but this would be an easier way of getting 40+ SAKs dated in an evening.

Well, back to 5 pages open to date a knife.

You don't need five pages open to date a knife - You just need this

Find the tools/features in your knife in the top row - Go down the column for each tool until you get to the version that matches each tool. When you have done this it should just give you a single row or group of rows. Go to the first column for that row (those rows) and you have a date or date range your knife!

I found this a lot easier to use than Detron's spreadsheet - But I could be a little biased
Will send it Detron's to you anyway.
