What do you sharpen your MT with?

I like convex edges, so once a knife or MT needs to be sharpened I sharpen and convert it to a convex edge on a WSKTS.

I've converted my small LM that had a chisel grind to double convex edges... much sharper.  The only downside is that I go through the belts fairly often.

What do you use?

The blades on my MT's are used strictly for utility.  I don't spend much time on them because i use them hard.  I use a spyderco sharpmaker on almost everything.  I don't care to buy MT's with chisel ground blades, so i never have to convert them.  The only one I have right now is my micra, and it's fine the way it is.

Got a Naniwa 120 grit stone for the damaged or thick stuff, spyderco medium stone (from the Sharpmaker set) for utility stuff and things that need a higher finish get the spyderco fine stone

I just use a dog bone sharpener most times.  If you have a steady hand and are just looking for a utility type edge then you really can't beat the convenience of a dog bone.

I bought one of those dog bones a week ago, but have not had to use it yet. I had no idea it was designed for spyderco knives, but it was a pleasant surprise.

For touch ups, I use the Spyderco Sharpmaker. However, if an edge is greater than 40 degrees inclusive, I'll reprofile the bevels back with a Wicked Edge. I recently reprofiled the blade on my Charge AL, since the tip wasn't as needle-pointy as I'm used to. It didn't take long at all, and now touch ups are easy and quick.

The purists here love using stones and rods and whatnot. But I am total pants at maintaining that EXACT proper angle for sharpening, and those nifty sharpening systems can’t help me with that.  Seriously, your hand can deviate by a few degrees for each pass. I can never get it right. The only exception are my Mora knives with their Scandinavian grind; just lay a diamond card on that flat bevel and go. All knives should be that easy.

So for touch ups on blades with a hollow grind (SAK and kitchen knives), I do a few light-as-a-feather passes with Smith’s version of an accusharp hand sharpener.

But when the knives get dull, I uses a Chef’s Choice 120. It’s a little expensive, but worth it. I always thought electric sharpeners were junk, but this machine really works:

Yeah, I know I probably can’t  get as good of an edge as the sharpening gurus. But I can shave hair off my arms with my knives, so I think that’s respectable.

I use a Spyderco Sharpmaker for all my knives and multitools. The only knives I don´t get shaving sharp with it are Bökers with 440C steel and my LM BO PST CC.

On the move I use a Spyderco Double Stuff or the single ceramic sticks from a Gatco Micro-X Pocket Sharpener.

I like using my Lansky.  It's great for fixing a heavily damaged blade, or just doing a quick touch up.

I use a ceramic rod I picked up at my local recycling store - in fact I picked hundreds up and gave them away on BCUK Forum - They are brilliant sharpeners - I kept 2 back for myself.

Here's a pic of it with my Huntsman and new pouch, made from recycled leather;

Another vote for Sharpmaker, and for the money, it is probably one of my best-bang-for-the-buck investment for knives and sharp tools.  Very easy to learn, and quick to yield great results.

I use a Smith's Pocket Pal for quick sharpening and a Arkansas stone for refined stuff. I also have one of those 3 sided blocks with course, medium and fine stones.

For smooth edges I prefer the Lansky sharpening system.

For serrated edges I use the warthog serrated diamond file. It has four different shape/size sides and restore a serrated blade to factory sharpness or better without you seeing that it was done. The match in sizes on leatherman and SOG is perfect.

A lot of people like the Lansky system but I've never used it. My father-in-law had one years ago that he used for his kitchen knives (he was a chef) that he love to use. He bought me the crock sticks when his daughter & I married more than 24 years ago and I still use them. I almost forgot about them.

I've got a Lansky with 6 stones, Warthog Multi-Edge with 3 diamond stones and diamond serrated rod , Fake Apex Edge Pro, and a Spyderco Sharpmaker.

The Lansky's rods seem to flex and I can't seem to keep a constant angle, also the Lansky Super Sapphire Polishing Hone does not deliver on what it say's its meant to do.

Warthog Multi-Edge is good for aggressive steel removal, but then the Sharpmaker is needed for a final finish.

Fake Apex Edge Pro, is great for straight blades, but need to get better stones for curved blades, also great for getting close to mirror edges.

Spyderco Sharpmaker is a great all rounder and this is my go to sharpener in most cases, Also have the ultra fine stone which gives a mirror edge to my blades.

I consider my Leatherman Surge to be a 'survival tool', something to be kept in reserve for when it's 'REALLY NEEDED', and always try to have another blade available so that I don't have to use the Surge. Therefore it doesn't get enough use to need sharpening.
Just like I don't unwrap a survival blanket when there's a cool breeze, or uncap the water purification tablets every time I fill a water bottle, the Leatherman only comes out when there's a NEED and no pliers or decent knife available. Not very often.   :)

So what do you sharpen your "other" blade with then?

My primary sharpener is the Lanksy system and I have a dogbone for quick jobs.

I need to get a Spyderco Sharpemaker.  I did some research on them back a couple of years ago to sharpen my MT with, but never pulled the trigger.
