You know, if I actually thought that she'd use it, I'd give mine one of my MiniChamps.  It's getting to the point that I have got to stop picking them up from here and there, and eBay too.

It's an addiction.
I know.

I'm now a charter member in the Victorinox MiniChamp Addiction Society.   I couldn't walk past the Victorinox display at Sportsman's Warehouse, this afternoon, without picking up another one.  This one's destined to get a set of Desert Ironwood scales.

Very nice MiniChamps gents  :like:

I had a celidor one which resides in the missus purse since ages. I think it's her's now  :dunno:

I still got my alox one though which I carry often  :salute:

I gave the cutticle pusher thing a chisle style edge which I find very handy...

And the file tip became a little awl...

...which actually works...

Wishing you all a great weekend  :drink:

Great ideas, Sir McStitchy!!!

I do not know if I have the courage to do it in any SAK here. specially the like new ones. But the idea of modifying the SAKs that are in EDC use is very productive.

Thanks for sharing!!!  :tu:

I like turning the file tip into an awl. Very creative!

How did you do that? I'd like to do that on my MiniChamp.

Steve  :hatsoff:

I've use a cheap copy of a dremel type tool like this...

...and polished it of...

I also carefully removed any remaining burr.

If you've never done anything like this then I'd suggest to do a little practise on a small scrap metal piece. Patience is key  :salute:

About the 1st pic of my mod instruction:

With "straight line of the file side" I mean that the file side is "flat", which the other side isn't at the tip.

Thank you, McStitchy.

I haven't done this before, but I have an old Bijou I've used for other parts so will practice on it.

What kind of tip did you have on your Dremel-clone?

What grit abrasive did you use for polishing?

I'm looking forward to trying this!

1. What kind of tip did you have on your Dremel-clone?

-> the one shown in the two pictures  :dunno:

2. What grit abrasive did you use for polishing?

-> I'm using the pads shown in the attached picture. For this I did go from 3200 - 12000

Thanks again, McStitchy.

For the Dremel tip, I'm sorry. I saw the pictures, but can't tell what you used for the grinding. I've used my Dremel mainly for cutting and sanding, not grinding.

Appreciate the info on the micro-abrasives.

I'm more of a home repair DIY guy. This small-scale stuff for modding SAKs is new to me.
