Cheers Enki! I started the process to get them in August!  :D
From the 6 I ordered, I am only keeping 2, 3 are already spoken for, one is left for trade.

First one in my collection. I remember having a red SAK as a kid, not sure if Wenger or Victoriniox, or what model it was? Hey I was a kid :)
And the Explorer? If it was good enough for the late Carl, it's good enough for me :-) It has the old style magnifier, so it must have been on the shelf a few years? Well it found a good home now.

I forgot to say that great minds think alike (and all that), I have an Explorer winging it's way to me too.  As you say; if it's good enough for Karl, it's good enough for the likes of us. :D

True! And with the limited "Carl Explorer" now becoming available, no better time to figure out what the fuss on the Explorer is about with one on the stock models. I consider this a tribute to Carl, without dropping the pile of hard earned cash for the Damascus one. I may put black scales on it though. :)
May Carl rest in peace and find many uses for his Explorer in the eternal hunting fields.

I have had a couple of Explorers through my hands in the past, but they have always been broken up to become components for mods, so this will be the first one I intend to keeps as it is.

Today I was doing some last moment xmas shopping in Gibraltar, and accidentally found myself in the Vic shop. I asked what was new since last time, and behold, I was shown a Carl Elsener SE.
The shop only gotten 2, and just one was remaining (that could be marketing smurf). There was a little voice in my head that was whispering "Buy me", clearly the knife was trying to communicate with me. As this was the first time this ever happened, I bought this mysterious whispering knife. I did not have it wrapped so I could take a pic before it get home-wrapped and goes under the tree. Merry xmas everyone!

Thanks, pure luck the knife was physically in the shop. I was not planning to order it online. But once I saw it I could not let it go. The flesh is weak.  :facepalm:

You don't have to be afraid of anything getting deleted, here, MWDP, if that helps :) You could of course start posting in one of the general EDC threads. ;)

My new year resolutons definately is no internet usage for knife encounters!!!

01/01/2014 EDC


With all the new knives I had incoming in December, I was planning a 2 month buying stop from the first of January. Reason is I ordered a custom pioneer that will get rather pricey, and I need to save up for it. 2 Hours before my buying deadline however I was alerted of a 2010 LE Damascus Pioneer on Evilbay, a used one with the lanyard removed. It was set at a fixed price, marked over 50% below of what a mint one goes these days. I done a stupid thing. I pressed the button.  :facepalm:

New black Alox arrived today!

Got it for a fair? price because it is damaged goods: the lanyard attachment has been removed.
