I'm going to cut the blade down some it's too fat. Then it will be better fitting in the hand.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Please don't. You will turn it into a "knuckle dragger". I had a knife with similar proportions and I gave it away. I got tired of the sore and scraped knuckles. If anything, follow the advice previously given and reprofile to angle the handle up a bit.

Not really a problem unless it's going to be used on cutting board.

Nope it's more of a just in case knife. It will be strapped to my EDC bag mostly.

LOL Steve - I'm just tryin' to envision that scenario for us Brits. Fact is I doubt if our feet would touch the ground if the plod were to catch us wandering around with that strapped on!

"Don't be alarmed officer, its simply a part of my EDC bag"

P.S  looking good  :tu:

Which is why I still live in the USA ;)
I have a few police friends and most of them just ask me "another knife Steve? Really? " let's see this one   Most people that know me around here know me as the knife and flashlight guy.

Almost there :)

I have one more slight angle to grind on the back near the handle. Then time for the bevel. It's looking better that I thought it ever would :).

How thick is it? And how do you plan to grind it?

3/16 think. A standard flat grind will be great. Then come heat treat, acid etch and handle attachment.

Need a little help on this folks. What's the easiest way to grind the bevel? I'm having a tough time deciding how to grind?

Bench grinder for the major stock removal, belt grinder on its side for the semi finish and a high grit belt for the final?
Why stop now?

I only have a one inch sander. I might try to make a jig of some sort.

I made a couple of these Steve, Its a crude 'jig' but its fine for making the odd blade
I don't know if you can tell from the picture but the wood is cut at less than a right angle and the back of the blade rests on the cut off nails

Thanks. That does help. I'll also have to make my sander bench bigger too as it's only about an inch long.

You could use screw instead of nails, it allows for different angles while sanding. Adjust the screw to have it stand out more or less, depending on what angle you want.

I like how she's coming along Steve.   >:D

don't thin the edge. Flatten out the back.

you may lose  some of the edge when you're trying to get the grind right.
