Finally got a Diesel!

Gotta say,I'm liking it so far :tu:

That's been a bit of an epic journey hasn't it. :-\  Good to hear you like it though, imagine if, after all you've been through, you didn't get on with it at all?  :ahhh

I have had som luck with Pinchys lately. I bought one in the early ninethies then a couple weeks ago I found one in a store and coudn´t  resist it. The plierhead was different completely squared off not rounded like my old one and had a file instead of the awl.
Then the other day I got one more that looks like my old one but with slight differences. Different logo and only "Patent Pending" on the side.
It looks like new and as its never been opend.
I have quite a few gerbers and there is no that fliks like these old Pinchys. :)

The thing with the MPx and Diesel series, is they're built like tanks with smooth thick rolled steel. You get the feeling of a reliable tool in your hands not to mention the one of a kind (Leatherman didn't even come close) one hand opening pliers. There's nothing else like it. Very addictive!

 sawman is to blame

I got a mp600 blunt nose on the way.

its gonna be awhile but I'm gonna to do a review on it sooner or later.

it should be a hell of a worker.

I'm looking forward to testing this one.

I haven't owned a Gerber pliers tool in a decade or so.

I'm excited. :woohoo:

I can  help you with that !  ;)

There is  an early version of the version 4 Mr Pinchy that is stamped with "U.S. PATENT NO    5142721/5142844"
I think the "5142844" is an error (probably copied from the first 3 digits of the earlier patent no.), as all my later 4 & 5 versions used "5212844"

There's always another variant to be had, isn't there ? (if you look closely enough at the differences, anyway)   :pok:

And sure enough, I found another variant of Mr Pinchy tonight: Version 4 (round nut on tool pivots), but still with the awl (most Version 4's I've seen had a file which I thought had replaced the awl).

I've had my eye on that one but I'm waiting to hear some sort of review before buying one. The only problem I have with it right off is that part-serrated blade but I might be willing to overlook that.

This.  There are only two MT's that I carry that see regular knife use, my Octane and my ALX.  And even then, I'm more likely to use a SAK or slippie for cutting than them.  When carrying an MP, a PST, MPT, Fuse, or whatever, I go to whatever folder I'm carrying first.  SAKs and MT's are there more for the tools than the blades.  I'll just keep repeating to myself, "I'm not a multitool guy, I'm a knife guy" while ignoring 40+ SAKs and more Gerbers, LMs, SOGs, etc than I care to admit to......  ;)
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

My BM 531 or Spyderco FRN Native are my carry folders but I don't always carry one.
