Here's a picture of a whole one from the wiki. The back layered long nail file is missing from the one in the ebay listing. (and yes, I know this one has the corkscrew instead of the phillips in the wiki picture ;) )

Long nail file gone.
Did all Champions of that era have long nail files?  I don't see where it would have been located.  Do you think he substituted in the awl on the backside?

Would it have set in the groove next to the corkscrew?

Only one way to find out:

Quote
Does this knife have the long nail file? It looks like it should have it next to the corkscrew.

If not, is that still B+?

Yes, you can see the cutout in the liner for the nail nick.

Underneath the scissors. You can see the nail nick cut out in the second liner where the LNF nail nick goes. When the scissors are on the same pivot as the main blade, a LNF will be there also. At the front you can see a hunk of the liner broken out where the LNF pivots from.

Here's his answer:

Quote
This knife has no long nail file. I don't know whether or not it ever had one. I can't imagine why someone would remove it. There is no stub or remnant so if it was removed it was done by disassembling the knife.

The B+ refers to the condition of the knife.

In the first liner closest to the ground near the bail, a big hunk is missing out of the liner. That is where the LNF pivots from.

I agree after looking at the pictures.  Good eye, both you and Detron.  I think this guy knows what's wrong but wants to feign ignorance.

The answer I got. I said the snap on the scissors would be poor.

The scissors are not particularly snappy but not noticeably limp either.

If I remember correctly the long nail file uses a 5th pin that only attaches to the liner, as GigaHz says, near the bail.

Here are the parts that give it away.

LNF attachment point.

LNF nail nick cut out.

B+ Excellent condition, no obvious wear, clean, tight, complete.  Good for a collector, but probably not a museum.

The sellers guide to the ratings would suggest that this listing is rated incorrectly!

Of course, you gentlemen are completely correct about this particular knife, but I've purchased a few later model, more common knives (like Spartans, Tinkers, Supertinkers, Climbers, etc) from him and they have been better than described or expected, priced right, and shipped promptly.  I think this is an honest error, despite appearances.

Instead I have to say that I had not so good experiences with this seller.
For example I bought a knife with the blade heavy sharpened.
Because of the angle of the pictures it was really difficult to tell, and it was not mentioned in the description.
These "A, B, Z, A+, B- etc ..." grade may be cool to read, but I would prefer an honest description.

You are correct; an honest description is always best.  Wouldn't we all like to see more of them!
