This 1976 Soldier may be going back as this staining on both sides isn't coming off.

That is a shame FB! :(

Hope you can get the staining off.

Thank you all, it's definitely a shade lighter after using toothbrush and toothpaste.
Need to look in the garage for something stronger.

I would try Simple Green first, and if that doesn't work, Ballistrol.  I have had great luck with it.

Thank you all for the suggestions, but due to the condition, I have put in a request to return to the seller.

**EDIT - the seller offered me a partial refund instead of returning it, so I took that and will work on buying some more cleaning products.

@FB - I would go for regular metal polish and a toothbrush - It's mildly abrasive  - The knife will come up beautifully

In the UK this would be Brasso, or something like Autosol

I hope everyone is enjoying he holiday week.  I like to use time off to finish up articles on my blog -- this particular one was a long time in writing, and I thought that all my MTO Swiss Army Knight friends would enjoy the picture I used on the title page.

If you'd like to read the full article, which is on collecting the Model 1961 Soldier SAK, you can find it here:  http://www.roverhaven.com/the-rover-haven-blog/

Very, very nice articles and pictures Myron - Excellent - Thank you for sharing
........ You must have quite a collection - I could not tell if you have all the years or just a selection - I think the latter - Right?

Love the maple leaf Pioneer and the 'mystery' Soldier, also the Black Beauty .... and poor man's Black Beauty!!  ;)

Was interested that there was no mention of here (MTo), SAKWiki or Sosak/Swiss Army Knights in your 'sources'.
This is where I get most of my info - I guess your blog is much more detailed!

Hi Huntsman,

Thanks!  You are correct, my collection consists of selected representative Model 1961 SAKs.  In time I may go after every year of issue, but I am a married man after all....  ;)

Regarding my oversight in not mentioning MTo or SAKWiki, I have just corrected this.  I actually had this thought, since I owe much of what I know to these two amazing resources and the collecting community, but I finished this post up at 4 AM last night and simply forgot.  Writing for me is an organic process, and I try to jot down ideas when they occur to me, to be fleshed out later.  This one just slipped through the cracks.   At any rate, check it now...

Thanks again for the compliments and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Best,

Myron

Well it certainly works  :D  - You have a very nice writing style - Very informative and enthusiastic - But also relaxed and personal  :tu:

And thanks for the nice new paragraph at the end about the Wiki and us crazy collectors and users here at MTo !
- and of course for the suggestion/invite!
