This 64 has been my EDC for months and I don’t see me changing it. Between this and an Alox Electrician are my favorite SAK’s

I have a Grillon from 1962, I think they may have gone another year before being phased out for alox, at work so name time to look at the wiki but time to post

FYI, the Grilon scales were produced by the Swiss company EMS Chemie, and Grilon-scaled model 1951's were produced through 1964.   :))

It’s been awhile since I could be eligible for this club. I probably sold my last soldier 10+ years ago. But, I’m back!

Got a 2007 in the mail today. Had to clean some gunk out of it and it turned out nice. Looks like someone sharpened it using one of those pull through sharpeners and put a very small recurve in the blade, but it’s not too bad.

Why 2007? That’s the year I was married.

Awesome!   It's a great looking specimen, and it's always fun when there's a special connection to the year.  :))

Congratulations!

It’s strange but I couldn’t get this one for a while for some reasons. Now it’s mine and price is really good

Cool! I wonder if there are fewer '08's out there since part of that year's order was filled with the 93mm alox variety.

Yes, you are right, due to the small number of 2008/08 it is much more difficult to find than other years (except maybe 2012).

Model 2008 from the year 2008 is extremely rare!  Congratulations on this find.

The other rare one is 2012.  Almost impossible to find.

I have 10 or 11 Soldiers, including a 1944 Wenger Soldat, and a handful of model 61s from 1967 to 2006. I'm proud to own them but wow, the collections on here are amazing. I'll take a photo of my small collection and post it, but I think I'll wait until my newest one arrives. It has to cross the Atlantic to get here so it might be 2 or 3 weeks.

Just got this in the mail today, all the way from Albania. It’s a birthday gift for my dad, his birth year 1954 Wenger Soldat.

In pretty good shape, IMO, and still rock solid.

Looks great!   The Model '51s are among my favorites.  I have my Dad's birth year, too; it's a great thing to do.

Took a couple of pics comparing the 54 to a 2007 model 61.

Lots of differences, but still an obvious heritage there. The 54 is noticeably heavier, and it also has 21 individual components vs 13 for the 07. You can definitely see how the model 61 would be much easier to manufacture.

I’m surprised how much I like the 54. Maybe I need to get one for myself to carry occasionally.

I just got hold of this Sentinel isued to the Belgian army. The scale tools are also black.
The reference number 0.8413.3M3BE is on the box, but not yet at the Sakwiki, so i thought someone could ad this knife to it.
Picture can be used on Sakwiki if liked  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The "Soldier" is any one of 4 models officially issued to the Swiss Army.

The first three had nearly the same tool set (knife, awl, can opener [eventually w/ screwdriver] and bottle opener/screwdriver [originally just a screwdriver]).

The newest model adds a saw, back side screwdriver, and liner locks.

As always, the wiki is great!

Hi with me being new can I ask what the Soldier version please.

The particular knife that J2000E featured in his last post is a Model 1951, which was in service from 1951 to 1961 (and also '62, '63, and '64 in limited numbers).  It was replaced by the Model 1961, which was in service from 1962 to 2008.  The current issue is the Model 2008, in service from 2008 to present, and is the knife BPRoberts described above.
