It has been a good week; one custom and 4 little Spydercos....

Greetings all,

This has been a good week for me knife wise.

I got quite the surprise at lunch Wednesday. A friend of mine has been apprenticing with a long time local master smith and he presented me with a knife of his own making; 1095 steel 7/32" thick at the spine, scandi grind edge, unsharpened clip, right at 9 1/4" overall with 5 1/4" blade. It feels very solid and has a neutral balance in the hand.

Then yesterday these four little guys showed up. I was very curious about the Clipitool line when I first saw them posted, and I needed a replacement for my dearly departed Manbug, so I ordered all these a while back.

The Clipitools are very solid, and as expected are a little stiff to open but still doable with the opening hole. The scissors have thin blades and seem to cut easily, but with the blunt tips I wonder if they will prove as useful as the SAK scissors I am used to. The little serrated blade is wicked sharp as expected. I was originally thinking that I would like the one with the scissors best, but after handling them I can see the caplifter model to be a great thing for parties, cookouts, etc.

The Super Blue Ladybug is exactly what I expected; small, light, wickedly sharp. It just zips through everything that I have tried it on so far at the office. I put a bigger fob on it than I had on my Manbug in hopes of keeping up with it.

I was waiting to see when someone would get those clipitool's. Very cool! Do you mind me asking how much they cost you.

Here I've been holding off on buying a clip tool until I can figure out what one I want.

revolvergeek avoided the problem buying all of them
 :tu:

I'm stuck between the scissors or serrated blade.

I'm leaning towards the scissors but I'd really like to try that little serrated blade .

thanks for posting your new blades.

that custom is sweet also. Nice grinds .

you had a great day

They've been out a short time. KW has them for 23.95 + shipping.

Thats not to bad. I would be happy if it was $23.95 with shipping and tax though.

I paid just a touch less that $25 each for them with shipping. I would have rather a tip down carry clip so that I could have hung a light or something off the lanyard hole down into my pocket, but Overall they are still pretty neat.

I prefer tip up so these would be good though I would rarely carry something that size clipped to my pocket.

I have to admit I'd forgotten all about those new Spydercos.  Look good and the price sounds reasonable to me.

Your friends knife looks to be very well made, I know I'd be very happy with a friend like that. :D

All attendees at the Spyderco Meet in Amsterdam last Sunday were given the ususal goodiebag, and inside was the Clipitool with scissors (together with a Clipitool pin, the 2014 product catalogue, the 2014 OpFocus catalogue, a metal Spyderco bug coin, and a black Spyderco bandana)
I think this Clipitool makes a nice little item for the wife's handbag,  8)

Hooray!! My long lost Manbug (that I bought the SuperBlue Ladybug to replace) has been found! He was hiding in a very heavy flannel shirt pocket that I wore about a month ago when we had a lot of ice.

Here are a couple more of his custom knives that he has loaned me to check out. The chopper has about 2" more blade than mine, and a nice recurve. The dagger is long and light and quick.
