Just realized I carry a lot of sharpened steel as part of my EDC load out (not all of it used regularly or even really needed).

How many dedicated knife blades are on the tools you carry everyday?

Feel free to comment with thoughts on the subject while you're here :).

My typical carry consists of:

1 on a dedicated folding knife
2 on a multitool (sometimes less, but most MT's typically have 2)
2 on a SAK

Overkill? Definitely. I could probably make do with the 2 on the SAK or MT or even just the dedicated folder. Unfortunately, short of modding out the blades on the SAK or MT, my range is anywhere from 3-5 blades.

Hmmm, more than I had thought. :D  I always have my Classic, so that's one.  If carrying my TTi and Climber, that makes five total, MP600 and Vic OHT would be 4 total....  So yeah, usually between 4-5.

Dedicated Blade + MiniChamp = 3 Blades
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Well this is kinda embarassing, but here goes.

Surge - 2

Blast - 1

Swiss Champ - 2

LM E307x - 1

LM C308 - 1

Case Trapper - 2

LM e55B - 1

Micra - 1

That makes, ummm, 11. :ahhh

I've been carrying my new Wave and a LM C303 for the past week additionally, so that's another 3.

I know that's WAY OVERKILL, but I just can't help myself; I love MTs and knives

My question to the others, do you carry those items in your pocket, or are they in bags, cars, etc?

This is a tricky question for me. I want to say 3 as of recently, one on my 91mm (Watchman), another on my 58mm (Tutor), and a defensive knife. Proper locking folder or something like this.

But if I count whats in my backpack, car, etc...
Were literally talking 40 or more, so that's why I asked bags, car, etc...

5-6. Funny thing is only 2 really ever get used, the others are just tag-alongs that come with usable tools.

My daily work carry at the moment is a knife, bladeless Rebar and my keyring has a Manager, so that's 2.
Good number.

Typically a SAK and a folder . If out and about , also a multi in the bag . F/B's tend to be only for hiking , camping etc .

In the near future , I may go back to sporting a Rambler on my keys .

I voted 2, my Crosscut and (currently) a PS4, but if we also count what's in our vehicle, then 4 (add a Gerber BG Strata, and Vic Rucksack).

On my person I will always have my Spyderco Native, alox classic, and a sak or P4 or juice C2. Sooo 3 blades at all times. If im carrying my backpack than add a fixed blade, a MT and a regular classic sooo 6 total if I have my bag. 3 if not.

5 normally:
2 - Tinker
1 - Classic Alox
1 - Signature Lite
1 - Chinese Hobo Knife

Funny thing is my friends tried to tell me that I might have law-related issues with so many blades around... and I found out something amazing: used to carry a butterknife in my lunchbox... that was illegal because it was a fixedblade, but carrying 5 non-lockable sharp blades is fine...

My normal EDC has:

4 Victorinox XLT: Large, Small, Pruning, Electrician's
2 Swisstool Spirit: Plain, Serrated
1 Opinel #8  Jardin
1 Spyderco Ladybug
2 Victorinox Minichamp: Drop point, Warncliff (add one for the parcel opener)

That's 10.
Sometimes I might add my Surge when there's work to be done or my Harvester or Mountaineer in my pocket. Add another 2 for any  of those and we climp to  12. Otherwise I might (rarely) carry my Spyderco Endura and that's 11.

All these are in my bag (except one SAK in my pocket). I have also a Bahco and a Mil-Tek Rescue knife in my car, and two cheap chinese multitools also there. That's another 4 blades.
And an axe ofcourse. But the spade is sharp, so that's another one. 6 in the car.
I mainly use the Opinel  for almost everything and then the Ladybug and the Bahco in the sea and at the mountain but the other blades come with the tools and can't leave them behind.

My absolute  minimum EDC, except when swimming or mating, is the Ladybug- Minichamp duo. That's 3 blades. But  that's rare (when I'm going to the theater, opera etc, in a suit).

Typically,a SAK,a folder, and on my key ring a 58mm SAK and a small MT. My main MT tends to be bladeless

Let's see..... Too many.  Is that even possible?   OHO folder, SAK, multitool, sometimes another slippie, plus the Executive that's lived on my keys for years.  Seven to nine, depending on which SAK is in my pocket and which slipjoint pattern.  At least I don't have to worry too much about sharpening during the day.....  ;)

These days, just one. I'll have either the Wenger SI, custom SAK, or a Leatherman in my pocket and that's it. I no longer carry around multiple blades, it just wasn't practical.

I'm getting to that point myself. Once I get my MP600 modded with scissors, I'll be dropping the SAK from my rotation (2 blades down). I'll also be putting a combo blade in and removing the plain and serrated blades (1 more blade down). Then I should be good with just a dedicated folder and the utility blade on the MT.
