Farmers and Pioneers in black, red and blue
on: April 17, 2014, 02:00:44 PM
As Markus posted in the rare/national knives thread, there are colored ALOX SAKs to be had through German Amazon.

Blue, red and black Farmers and Pioneers. :ahhh The black Farmers were available from Italy and black Pioneers from the US before but the blue and red ones were quite a bit pricier. They don't seem to ship outside of Germany or at least I can't order one. But if this is what I think it is, that after the discontinuation of the limited runs Victorinox have decided to produce some more models in different colors, then we should soon be seeing them from local dealers too. :woohoo:

I really hope I was correct with this comment from the Vic to end special runs thread.

This connected with the info Ulli gave about them bringing back marlin spike models due to popular demand and the standard production line ALOX Mini Champs leads me to think they saw the potential of doing these full scale. So I'm thinking they decided not to do the limited 50 runs anymore and rather make them a production standard. This could in fact be good news. Even if it's not 20 limited runs per year anymore I'd be more happy with 5 regular production runs per year, lets say a few thousand colored farmers in standard colors (red, blue, green, orange, black) for 2014, a few thousand of the colored Pioneers for the following year, Solos, Ranchers, Harvesters, ...
...

http://www.amazon.de/Vict...mer-gerippt/dp/B00IJ55J5Y

They seem to be using the same model numbers as before as I just found the models on swissknifeshop.de. The 44 Euro price seems to be consistent for the Farmer and 39 Euro for the Pioneer.

Did you try to order from Swissknifeshop directly?
They have a list with shipping costs for many countries.

+1 Like I just got done saying in another thread - I don't like to see good things discontinued. I hope these do become available to the U.S. at fair prices. :salute:

Not yet, but it looks like I'd be paying 18 Euro for "other countries". ::)

I'll send an email to my local distributor for a price and availability check first. They order straight from Ibach and I get good prices from them.

Yes, they accept paypal, at least it says so in the payment options tab.

I wouldn't rush it with this. These two shops (amazon and swisknifeshop) are currently the only ones listing them, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing them in other shops soon enough. Maybe even at better prices.

Same thing happened with the MiniChamps.

I'm definitely hoping for a more local source for Red/Black/Blue Farmers!  :D

Hopefully Tim will know more for your side of the pond. :D

I sent an email to my local distributor, but they've probably went home for the day, and tomorrow is Good Friday so I don't know what hours they'll be working or if they'll get a response from Vic CH. Probably some time next week. :-\

I'd love to get a blue Farmer at a reasonable price.

Black & blue Farmers? these'll turn someone's wallet black and blue!!!

I know the joke's pretty bad but couldn't resist. Sorry   :D

Ok, on a more serious note I've got a black framer from Italy and I'm really happy to see what at least appears to be red & blue as regular stock items.

Yes I know the price is a little bit on the steep side but its not that much more than the standard price especially compared to the crazy prices we've seen on ebay lately.

If they are regular stock items then hopefully this might calm the alox markets somewhat and bring the prices down to a saner level.

Thanks for starting this thread, I hope you'll keep us updated on any developments :salute: :salute:

I don't think these will be regular stock items. These are called Limited Editions in the online shop. I doubt these will be available from your local dealer. But that's just my guess. If I'm wrong, I would be happy  :D

Oh cool, I've got some friends who were looking for some of these. :) Thanks for the heads up. I'm glad the black models are still fairly available, as that's what I've been buying for gifts. The black Pioneers and Farmers are the easiest to have engraved.

Mmmmm Blue Alox Farmer
Decent price as well...I've always regretted selling on the Blue Farmers I've had, might have to get one of these

I have a question about VAT I hope our European members can answer for me.

First off, I live in the UK and I know if I buy anything from outside the EU I have to pay VAT on it.

However I'm a little bit confused on how it works on buying something from another EU country, If I've read the government customs webpage correctly then I should only have to pay the VAT in the country of purchase.

Could anyone here please confirm if this is correct

Funny how "limited edition" can mean so many different things... there are those weird runs of 22 in eggshell blue that exist on the pages of "Alox World" and nowhere else. And there are the "limited edition" Classics in black, red, pink etc of which bazillions seem to have been made. (I got two "hot-pink" ones off amazon for 15 euros each.) Or the 2012 Limited edition Spartan, which could theoretically run up to a mere 999,999. (Grab them while they last... this century or next.)

My guess is these will be all over the place fairly soon, perhaps just in Europe or as a special thingy for Germany. Either way I don't think they'll sell out too quickly. (I hope not. I'm digging them blue pioneers. Don't have a pioneer yet - so I have a good excuse to get one.

Anyone notice this?
"'Vorbestellung möglich, Lieferzeit ca. 40 Tage" -

Taking pre-orders, delivery expected in 40 days.

(Didn't see that detail on the Amazon page.)

Is there anyone in the US that has the blue, red or an orange Pioneer available?  I would think about one of these colors but not at premium prices!! :)

I've got a red one I got from Alexei last year. Paid $65 for it total. If you want it, PM me and I can pass it on. :)
