The crack got glued shut first and coloured with a Sharpie.

Further shaping:

And finally: colouring, shaping and colouring (because the colouring process revealed uneven bumps)

Done:

Looks better in person than on pics, to the eye it's perfectly flat and a nice, matching colour.

I used red and black Sharpies to mix it into a dark brown and used some kitchen paper to rub the ink into each other.
Very nicely done :hatsoff:

Daylight pic of my repairs:

(Image removed from quote.)

I never could find the missing piece. I never dropped it and I am not sure what happened to it. Nice repair though.

As many Benchmades have scales that you can buy, I have had little luck finding any custom scales for the Crooked River.
Rather mundane quote entered here to approximate humor.

Same reports over the internet...
Multiple people seem to have had it happen for reasons unknown

Benchmade +1

Ordered a Bugout, but also bought Ti scales and blue Ti screws from "Flytanium" which leads to a beautiful, industrial looking knife.

No more handle flex that some report (even though that wasn't too bad IMHO).
A bit thicker handles, which I like! And a weight increase from 55 to 80 grams.
The weight increase is a non-issue to me since I'm not an ultralight-way guy anyway.

Regarding the weight, as standard, the Bugout is extremely light and a perfect knife for someone looking for a decently sized knife for as low weight as possible.
It's really slim and barely noticeable in a pocket. The tradeoffs in return are neglectible IMO.

The Bugout you say.

Not a knife that has been on my radar but it sure looks nice.

Forgot to say for the love of all that is good get a nice clip for that thing.

Is it wired that my phone autocorrected thing to thong?

For an EDC knife it's as big as I ever need and lighter than knives half it's size.

Blade Length: 3.24" (8.23cm)
Blade Thickness: 0.090" (2.29mm)
Open Length: 7.46" (18.95cm)
Closed Length: 4.22" (10.72cm)
Handle Thickness: 0.42" (10.54mm)
Weight: 1.85oz. (52.45g)

By the way, Dean, does your Bugout refuse to close when the blade is halfway and you release the Axis lock?

Opening goes well, but the lockbar prevents my knife from closing in any position.

I don't think refuse is the right word. As with my other axis locks when the blade is about 3/4 closed the lock will pull the blade shut.
Maybe the pivot is a bit tight on yours, if that's the case a very slight loosing will free it up. I also use a light oil like REM Oil.

Nah, refuse... And. Grinding noise.

The blade flicks open/closed well enough with the lock disengaged so I think my pivot tightness is ok...
