A special package from Europe
on: June 19, 2014, 02:28:20 PM
Got a very unique Leatherman tool from across the pond yesterday.

It was made in the U.S. of course, but was never available for sale here.

I own a few of its close relations, but not this particular model. (until now that is)

A Leatherman Charge you say? No, not just any Charge....check out those sweet nail nicks! 8)

Thanks again Oistein!

Thanks guys! I've got a couple other 2-handed Leathermen packed away in storage. (we are in the midst of moving) :P But once everything settles down I'll get them together for a group shot. :)

Good point! Seems like the UK market would be at least as big as the Danish market, as far as justification for special production runs goes. :-\

Not drilling a hole in the, still locking, blade of a Wave/Charge is easier than building in a non-locking knife, I suppose, though...

Not just us brits.  Most of western Europe has a presumption against locking blades.  That 2HO tool is a nice collectable but still non legal EDC in Denmark.

Liner lock designs are not easy to make non locking and I would not consider a non locking outboard knife safe for the user.   A sound reason why a manufacturer would not want to be on the hook.

The locking bar design, all inboard tools Rebar :tu: is another matter.  An easy product mod and "safe" when used with the handles closed.  I have come to the conclusion that the only way LM's hand will be forced is when non legal EDC product is made illegal to sell in a jurisdiction.  Of course it won't happen because the law is an ass.
