Those scales look tops Tony :tu:

How about making some more scales.  That little Tramotina had bolts for disassembly didn't it?  Look nice with the blade sorted and wood scales.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Neil,
I hadn't thought of that
I have done a bit of work on that blade but it's still in need of some work

Fantastic!  I really like the 84mm size for pocket carry.  Love the worn black Alox too.

John your Compact/Saw looks great. Good job.

Tony i like your wood scales. I have been wanting to make some.
Tony if you make more wood scales there is a cool way to make your own wood stain you mix Rit dye with isopropyl alcohol to make wood colors i use yellow, red and dark brown. The nice thing about this stain is it drys fast you can re stain again in minutes. You can even make stain in colors like red or blue if you want.

Bored today so I thought I'd try making a wood scale for my old SAK. It hasn't been used for years, I'm a Leatherman guy so "years" is really an understatement. Took me about 45 minutes from removing scales, measuring, cutting, sanding, oiling and attaching. Result was nice, might have to look more into SAKs now that I have a way of getting rid of those ugly red scales with holes in them after 2 days use (when the toothpick and tweezers fall out).

Would be nice with a SAK that has a larger-than-normal knife, a saw, and a bit driver - is that possible (with/without modding)? Alternately just a knife and a saw

Yes it is for cloth. Just mix it with with alcohol instead of water. play with it on scrap wood until you get the hang of it and the color you want. This the stain i would use to color match moldings to match hardwood floors.

I built this for cgk. Three screwdrivers, blade, file chisel, and saw. Pretty good for three layers. Anybody have any good names for it?

I see many people who make wooden scales (especially the Thai wonder-twins  ) have the Swiss cross logo on the wooden scales. How do you do that?

If only you could give people rep power on this forum- that was the most clever thing I have heard all week

EDIT: That reminds me of Gareth's mod for his brother-in-law, was it? I think "the Homebuilder" was his name for it, and this is a Compact version of that. It does capture that whole handyman/around the house toolset very well, so you could play off those sorts of names. I'd call it the Contractor, maybe? Perhaps not heavy-duty enough to be worthy of such a title. How about Landlord?

Or if you want a more military-oriented name, I'd call it the P.O.W. because I have often thought of that configuration of knife being what I would want if I got locked up in some third-world country. Does that suggest I spent WAY too much time thinking about very obscure things (namely SAKs)?

My third pair of scales for my 84mm Tinker. The first were wooden, pine, too light and fragile wood. Second were steel, too heavy. These are juniper wood, and look great IMO.
