Love that 58mm mod...I've had a few mod ideas in the past, but I wouldn't have come up with that one in a month of Sundays. It's almost like a mini Soldier/OH Trekker. Did you have to modify the Spyderco blade much?

You guys really know how to make a new member feel welcome!
Thanks again for all the nice comments. I'll be spending some time in the shop this weekend and hope to finish this one up so I can move onto the larger ones sitting in pieces.

The 58mm that you see stamped is for my SAK Station. It's 3/8" aluminum plate with holes and pins for assembling and testing modification ideas. There are 3 sizes/hole patterns for the 58/84/93mm frames. It allows a stable platform free from movement. It helped tremendously for making sure the Spyderco blade fit.

The only thing that needs to happen to make the honey bee blade work is to fill the pivot hole with brass and relocate the hole, along with either drilling and tapping the scale for another set screw to hold the liner/spring, or use a brass rivet. The other hole of the liner/spring fits in the rear screw hole. If nobody has done this mod before it blows my mind. It's so straight forward and easy that it's almost like they were made for each other....the size of the blade, the ease of making it work, and cost.

Here's the "SAK Station"

Nice. I have something similar but in wood. It's good to have a jig like that for testing. :tu:

A birdy told me you had problems finding pics of disassembled SAKs so I'll add a few pics to help you in your future mods. ;)

Also check out the sticky we have at the top of this board for more info. -->  SAK modding guides, all in one place

And Syph007's thread (found in his signature line) is an awesome place to see how it all comes together.

I might have to take a stab at trying the Honey Bee mod for myself. The 'SAK Station' is a nice jig; I have a similar one for my own mods, but it's made out of a plastic cutting board.

Spectacular, great mod. I had a couple of ideas for 58mm, but I never imagined possibilities like this one.

Sorry for the quality of the pix,but here's a Compact, with the CS replaced with a Phillips.

I've been kicking around the idea of doing this for ages, and it was fairly straight forward to do

Question is,what to call it? Duke of Marlbourgh? Duke of Wellington? Duke of Earl?

Cheers guys, gotta admit I'm pleased with it!

And Syph, your so right! Even if it meant having the openers aligned with a Philips like you do on your Alox mods!

Good stuff Kirk13
 - I am in awe of you modders - But .... have plans to join you .... in a very modest way - at least for starters  :D
What would be really great now would be to replace the hook with a reamer.
Reamer is way, way more useful
But I seem to remember reading (here) there are problems doing this - in that the scissors and hook share a spring - and its difficult to put any other tool on the back of that spring.
Is that right?

Cheers Huntsman, but in terms of SAK modders,I'm barely a Padwan.

In terms of replacing the hook with a awl/reamer,the problem is the shape of the spring,so yes, your quite right there.

For me the lack if an awl isn't a big deal,as I've usually got a MT with one. Oh,and the hook unique to the DofE and Compact features a nail file, match striker. And if you bit your nails as much as I do

Will be repeating this one soon so...

The hook replacment is a tricky one.  The hook end also rests under the spring and seems to also assist in spring tension.  I will next to reposition the pivot of the awl and reshape it to the shape of hook pivot and see if that works.

Nice job rick, if the hook had the file on the back I think that would be like the ultimate setup! JR

This SAK ist a present my biggest fan:

She is 4 years old and her favourite colour is pink.

So I built (as agreed with her father) a “my first Victorinox” in princess-look with tender pink scales.
