I'd prefer it with smooth backsprings though without the backlayered tools and the Pioneer inline awl instead of the combo tool. Can't remember ever using the back layered chisel or technician screwdriver and the in line awl is a 1000x better (not even an exaggeration ) than the backlayered one.It could be done with smooth backs for the saw layers, but it would be tough to get the blade on a spring with no backside tool. I asked if he wanted the chisel and he figured the more tools the better in those 3 layers so I just went for it.

Here's my first mod - I call it the Tom Sawyer (it's a Woodsman really). Modded from a Swisschamp and a Huntsman; It's a toolset I use most as an EDC and is much easier to pocket than a Swisschamp!Next up is to mod the rest of my Huntsman into a Camper..........

Modded from a Swisschamp and a Huntsman;Just curious Magentus - Where is the Huntsman in this?It looks like a only a Swiss Champ with the pliers, metal saw and fish scaler layers stripped out BTW - I have a Woodsman (Tom Sawyer!) - no backspring SD compared to yours - and I love it - Great tool selection.
Here is one modded Wenger (I am calling it a "Compact" Tradesman- 3 layers instead of the regular 4) I finished a few days ago. I am putting together another Wenger, a modded Cyclist to carry on my wedgie bike bag (attached beneath the seat of bicycles, with patches, a spare tube, tire levers, etc.).
Actually the liners from three Cadets , the saw and spring from a My First Vic Plus and the scissors and spring from a Small Climber.
Tuned scissors, Brass liners made and riveted up. Damn, Red and Brass look good together...
Do you also have a spring pics for this one?The asymmetrical design of the 84mm range is pain.
