Ebay Buyers and sellers
on: June 24, 2014, 09:42:28 PM
I have been collecting knives for about a year now and I was wondeirng a couple of things.

Are most ebay sellars of knives collectors selling excess, merchants or a little of both?

Secondly, what is a reasonable amount of time to expect someone to pay for a knife they purchased on ebay?

Thanks,

Jim

eBay is a mix of all kinds of people selling. Some make a living off it, others are selling smurf they got as a gift and has been sitting in their sock drawer for the past year.

As for payment it should be immediate. I always pay right away and expect the same from my buyers.

As soon as I win something, I pay for it.  I know I wouldn't want to wait to get money for something I sold, so I don't want to make others wait.

I think buyers should pay within 3 days of an auction ending (unless they have made other arrangements which the seller has agreed to).

I pay as soon as the auction ends,  UNLESS it ends when I am asleep, then as soon as possible.  I would say worst case 10 hours.
If I can help, let me know

I once waited 10 days for a payment, the buyer wouldn't make contact so I resisted the item and reported them, that really Pissed me off!

I pay right away except when I'm bidding on multiple items from the same seller. Then I PM in advance to ask about combined shipping and pay immediately after winning/loosing the last auction.

I pay right away unless multiple auctions.  When I sell something I will state "payment due within three days of auction close" in the auction details.

I generally only get Buy It Now type things as I hate waiting for the auction to end.  If that's the case, I pay immediately since I'm already at the computer.  If it is an auction and I have to wait to see if I won, then I usually pay within a few hours- pretty much as soon as it's possible.  I respect that the seller wants to get paid, but even more importantly if I don't pay right away then chances are I'll forget.  :P
