Simple Ultralight Ready EDC Kit (SUREDC Kit)
on: June 26, 2014, 12:05:30 AM
A fellow member sent me this cute EDC kit. Thank you Bryan.  :salute:

I erased the address on the card for extra blades, as I am sure he would't want this posted everywhere. Love the catchy name.

This tiny kit comes with quite a few interesting things. There is a nice and bright Life Gear LED flashlight with battery key, a pair of safety pins, a mini Sharpie, and a small razor blade in a tag holder...all on a small S clip.

So far so good. The pair of safety pins can be used for many things. They can even be used to hang larger things off of the S clip. The flashlight is nice and bright. I had to ask him what the key was for. To me, it looked like those specialized keys you find to turn on/off lights in a school or public place where they don't want people access to such things. I found out it is a battery key. Use the two metal prongs that mate with two tiny detentes in the battery cover. Twist a few times to release the screwed in battery cover to gain access to the small pill type batteries. That cover makes it child proof, but oh how I struggled to screw it back in the first time. Like everything else, practice does make perfect. The blade holder I did have problems with. I attempted to pull the blade out from the backside. I managed to do this but I almost cut myself multiple times. Yes, that little blade is sharp! I then noticed that I could remove the tag holder (turned blade holder) and slide the blade without any issues. The other end, I was bending the holder trying to bend the blade out of the opening there. Yeah, I should have examined it closer. A second blade was included. I must say, I have not seen such tiny razor blades before. The Sharpie is always a nice edition.

yes, that white you see in the key/tag holder is a tiny sharp blade. Be careful. :D

Overall, I like this kit. It does live up to it's name as it is very light weight and capable all told.  :tu:

I love to maximize utility and minimize the size and weight of my EDC.  I too carry a Sharpie mini everyday, and it gets used as much as anything I carry.  Its one of those things that you may not realize that you "need" until you start carrying it.  But then it becomes pretty useful to identify water bottles, fast food contains and all kinds of other stuff.
